DC made no changes to their playing eleven.
RCB (Shar)made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Ross Taylor
and Vinay Kumar made way for Jesse Ryder and Karn.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, the player of the match, chose to
bat.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 62, and lost a wicket.
Although his innings included a boundary and a six, Herschelle Gibbs had
no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored 13. Twenty-three balls into the
match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Praveen Kumar, who broke the 46-run
stand.
DC scored 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). RCB had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
V V S Laxman, who faced 10 balls, scored five. Twenty balls after Gibbs’

Gilchrist’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and
three sixes – came off 31 balls.
DC scored 100 off 10.4 overs (64 balls). The number of extras they had conceded
at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Gilchrist’s contribution
to the partnership was 28, Rohit Sharma’s contribution to it was 22. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was three.

61-run partnership.
Scott Styris, whose eight-ball innings included a six, scored 14.
Fourteen balls later, he was caught by Praveen. Pietersen broke the 20-run
stand.

that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Rohit’s half-century – which included a boundary and five sixes – came off
28 balls.
He eventually scored 52 off 30 balls. Seventeen balls after Styris’

– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 31, and lost a couple

his account. A ball into the chase, he was dismissed by Edwards.
Kallis, whose 14-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 15. Twenty-two
balls later, he was caught by Rohit. Rudra Pratap Singh broke the 19-run stand.
Uthappa, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen.
