Hyderabad lose to Steven-led RR

SRH made one changes to their playing eleven – Kane Williamson made way for Eoin Morgan.

RR made no changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Steven Smith, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over.  They scored 35, and lost three wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan, whose 12-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 10. Four overs into the match, he was caught by Sanju Samson. Dhawal Kulkarni broke the 25-rnu stand.

The second-wicket pair put on 10. David Warner, whose 14-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 21. Ajinkya Rahane, the player of the match, ran him out.

The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Lokesh Rahul, who faced five balls, scored a couple. The next ball, he was trapped leg before wicket by Kulkarni.

SRH scored 50 off 8.4 overs (52 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 54 balls. While Naman Ojha’s contribution to the partnership was 25, Morgan’s contribution to it was 24. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Naman, whose 32-ball (Prav)innings included three boundaries, scored 25. Fifty-five balls after Rahul’s dismissal, Tambe broke the 52-run partnership.

Morgan, whose 30-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 27. Fourteen balls later, he was trapped leg (Tam)before wicket by the leggie, who broke the nine-run stand.

SRH scored 100 off 17.4 overs (107 balls). RR had conceded five extras at that point.

Ravi Bopara, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 23. He was unbeaten, as was Ashish Reddy, who scored 13. His nine-ball innings included a six.

RR eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. SRH scored 127 for the loss of five overs off 20 overs.

James Faulkner, Stuart Binny, and Deepak Hooda bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 20, a dozen, and 11, respectively.

Chris Morris, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 23.

Tim Southee, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 30.

Kulkarni bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded nine, picking up a couple of wickets.

Tambe, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up a couple of scalps.

RR’s openers put on 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). SRH had conceded five extras at that point. While Rahane’s contribution to the partnership was 25, Samson’s contribution to it was 20.

Samson, whose 30-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 26. Sixty-two balls into the chase, he was caught by Naman. Bopara broke the 64-run partnership.

Steven, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. Eighteen balls later, he was caught by Warner. Karn Sharma broke the 20-run stand.

Nair, who faced five balls, scored (K)arun. Bopara had a reason to be in seventh heaven – eight balls later, he caught him off his own bowling.

RR scored 100 off 15.5 overs (95 balls). SRH had conceded half-a-dozen extra at that point.

Rahane’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off 46 balls.

He eventually scored 62 off 56 balls, which included nine boundaries. Twenty-four balls later, Trent Boult broke the 27-run stand.

Binny, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 16. He was unbeaten, as was Faulkner, who scored half-a-dozen. His five-ball innings included a boundary. 

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave SRH no reason to be in seventh heaven.

RR, who scored 131 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets.

Ashish Reddy bowled an over, conceding five. He was wicketless, as were the Kumars (Praveen and Bhuvneshwar), who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 30, the latter conceded 25.

Karn bowled three overs, conceding 19. He picked up a wicket, as did Boult, who bowled four overs, conceding 25.

Bopara bowled four overs, conceding 18. He picked up a couple of scalps.
