DD made three changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Mahela
Jayawardene, Morne, and Shahbaz Nadeem made way for Johan Botha, Roelof van der
Merwe, and Ashish Nehra.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, and the player
of the match, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 47, without the loss of
a wicket.
CSK’s openers put on 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). The
number of extras they had conceded at that point gave DD no reason to be in
seventh heaven. While the contributions of both Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay
to the partnership were 23 apiece.

Irfan, who faced five balls, scored four. Bravo had a reason to be in
seventh heaven – he broke the 10-run stand.
Umesh, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen. He was
unbeaten.
The (Dho)ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Nehra, who faced a
ball, didn’t get off the mark. A ball after Irfan’s dismissal, he was caught behind
off the bowling of Bravo.
Kaul, who faced nine balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he was
unbeaten.
CSK eventually conceded nine extras. DD, who scored 135 for the loss of
nine wickets off 20 overs, lost by 33 runs.
