RR made no changes to their playing eleven.
MI made three changes
to their playing (Pat)eleven – Aditya Tare, Ambati Rayudu, and Harbhajan Singh made
way for Parthiv, Unmukt Chand, and Shreyas Gopal.
On winning the
toss, Rohit Sharma, MI’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They
scored 31, and lost a wicket.
Twenty-one balls into the match, MI had scored 24 without
the loss of wicket. Aaron Finch – who was unbea‘ten’ at that point – retired hurt.
His 14-ball innings included a couple of boundaries.
Parthiv, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries, scored 16. Twenty-eight balls into the match, he was caught by Chris
Morris. Dhawal Kulkarni broke the 27-run stand.
Rohit, who faced five balls, didn’t get off the mark.
Eleven balls later, he was caught by Steven Smith, RR’s skipper and the player
of the match. Stuart Binny broke the four-run stand.
Chand, whose 17-ball (Prav)innings included a boundary,
scored a dozen. Twenty balls later, Tambe broke the 14-run stand.
MI scored 50 off a dozen overs (72 balls). RR had conceded
an extra at that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Corey
Anderson’s contribution to the partnership was 29, Kieron Pollard’s

Both Jagadeesha Suchith and Gopal faced a ball apiece, and
were unbeaten. While the former didn’t get off the mark, the latter scored a

Deepak Hooda, who bowled an over, conceded three. He was

Tambe and Kulkarni bowled three overs each, picking up a
wicket apiece. While the former conceded 29, the latter conceded 15.
Southee and Morris bowled four overs each, picking up a couple
of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 46, the latter conceded 34.

overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – they won with five balls to
spare.
Anderson, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded a dozen.
He was wicketless, as were Suyal and Suchith, who bowled four overs apiece.
While the former conceded 45, the latter conceded 31.
Gopal bowled 13 balls, conceding 23. He picked up a wicket.
Vinay bowled three overs, conceding 13. He picked up a
wicket.
Malinga bowled four overs, conceding 41. He picked up a
