DD made one changes to their playing eleven – Jaydev Unadkat made way
for Domnic Muthuswami.
On winning the toss, George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They
scored 41, and lost a wicket.
Murali Vijay, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries and a six, scored 19. Five overs into the match, he was caught by
Jean-Paul Duminy, DD’s skipper. Angelo Mathews broke the 33-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). DD had conceded five
extras at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. The contributions
of both Virender Sehwag and Wriddhiman Saha to the partnership were 24 apiece.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
KXIP scored 100 off 12.5 overs (77 balls). DD had conceded
half-a-dozen extras at that point.
Saha, whose 28-ball innings included three sixes, eventually
scored 39. Fifty-three balls after Vijay’s dismissal, Amit Mishra broke the 71-run
partnership.
Sehwag, whose 41-ball innings included four boundaries and
a couple of sixes, eventually scored 47. Seven balls later, he was caught by
Nathan Coulter-Nile. Duminy broke the 11-run stand.
Glenn Maxwell, whose five-ball innings included a couple
of sixes, scored 15. An over later, he was caught by Manoj Tiwary. Imran Tahir
broke the 16-run stand.
David Miller, who faced half-a-dozen balls, had no reason
to be in seventh heaven – an over later, Duminy broke the run-a-ball stand.
KXIP scored 150 off 18.2 overs (110 balls). DD had
conceded eight extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of
extras they eventually conceded.
Bailey, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary and a
six, scored 19. Seventeen balls after Miller’s dismissal, he was caught by
Shreyas Iyer. Tahir broke the 28-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Axar Patel,
whose 10-ball innings included a six, scored 13. The next ball, he was caught
by Mathews off the bowling of Tahir.
Rishi Dhawan, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
KXIP scored 165 for the loss of seven wickets off 20
overs.
Yuvraj Singh, who bowled an over, conceded nine. He was
wicketless, as were Muthuswami and Coulter-Nile, who bowled three overs apiece.
While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 14.
Mathews, who bowled three overs, conceded 23. He picked up
a wicket, as did Mishra, who bowled four overs, conceding 34.
Duminy, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 16. He
picked up a couple of wickets.
Tahir, who bowled four overs, conceded 43. He picked up
three scalps.

dismissal, Axar ran him out.

five extras at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While the
contribution of Mayank Agarwal, the player of the match, to the partnership was
20, Yuvraj’s contribution to it was 32. Extras’ contribution to the partnership
was a run.
Agarwal’s half-century – which included five boundaries
and a couple of sixes – came of 37 balls.
Yuvraj’s half-century – which included five boundaries
and three sixes – came off 33 balls.
DD scored 150 off 17.1 overs (103 balls). The number of
extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh
heaven.

Agarwal’s contribution to the partnership was 41, Yuvraj’s contribution to it

Yuvraj eventually faced 39 balls, failing to add to the
aforementioned score. Sixteen balls after Duminy’s dismissal, he was caught by
Sandeep. Anureet broke the 106-run partnership.
The fourth-wicket pair failed to get off the mark.
Agarwal, whose 48-ball innings included seven boundaries and a couple of sixes,
eventually scored 68. The next ball, he was dismissed by Anureet.
Mathews, whose four-ball innings included a boundary,
scored half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten.
Kedar Jadhav, who faced five balls, scored three.

Axar, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 28. He picked up a
wicket, as did Sandeep, who bowled four overs, conceding 30.
Anureet, who bowled four overs, conceded 33. He picked up
a couple of scalps.
