Rohit-led MI beat the (Pu)neighbours

PWI made five changes to their playing eleven – Udit Birla, Mitchell Marsh, Mahesh Rawat, Wayne Parnell, and Krishnakant Upadhyay made way for Manish Pandey, Abhishek Nayar, Kane Richardson, Ashok Dinda, and Ajantha Mendis.

MI made one changes to their playing eleven – Ambati Rayudu made way for Glenn Maxwell.

(Aar)On winning the toss, Finch, PWI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 36, and lost a couple of wickets.

Finch, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 10. Seventeen balls into the match, he was caught by Dwayne. Mitchell Johnson, the player of the match, broke the (Smi)thirteen-run stand.

Uthappa, whose 13-ball (Rob)innings included a boundary, scored 11. Eleven balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Lasith Malinga, who broke the 12-run stand.

PWI scored 50 off eight overs (49 balls). MI had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 40 balls. While Pandey’s contribution to the partnership was 22, Yuvraj Singh’s contribution to it was 27. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Pandey, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 29. Fifty-six balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Ambati Rayudu. Malinga broke the 59-run partnership.

The fourth-wicket pair put on a run. Angelo Mathews, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Three balls later, Sachin Tendulkar ran him out.

The fifth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Yuvraj Singh, whose 29-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 33. A couple of balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Harbhajan Singh.

Richardson, who faced 16 balls, scored eight. Twenty-two balls later, he was caught by Harbhajan. Johnson broke the 14-run stand.

PWI scored 100 off 17.5 overs (108 balls). MI had conceded three extras at that point.

Nayar, who faced 14 balls, scored 11. A dozen balls after Richardson’s dismissal, he was caught by Harbhajan. Abu Nechim broke the 10-run stand.

Parvez Rasool, who faced five balls, scored four. He was unbeaten.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. Three balls after Nayar’s dismissal, he was caught by Dwayne. Nechim broke the three-run stand.

MI eventually conceded four extras. PWI scored 112 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Maxwell, who bowled an over, conceded five. He was wicketless, as was Pragyan Ojha, who bowled three overs, conceding 28.

Harbhajan, who bowled four overs, conceded 14. He picked up a wicket.

Nechim and Malinga bowled four overs, conceding 27, apiece. Each of them picked up a couple of scalps, as did Johnson, who bowled four overs, conceding eight.

Tendulkar, whose 13-ball (Sach)innings included three boundaries, scored 15. Twenty-six balls later, he was caught by Pandey. Mendis broke the 25-run stand.

Dinesh Karthik, whose 25-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 17. Seventeen balls later, he was caught by Pandey. Yuvraj broke the 14-run stand.

MI scored 50 off 9.5 overs (59 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 48 balls. While the contribution of Rohit Sharma, MI’s skipper, to the partnership was 26, Rayudu’s contribution to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Rayudu, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, eventually scored 26. Fifty-two balls after Dinesh’s dismissal, he was caught by Mathews. Dinda broke the 54-run partnership.

MI scored 100 off 17 overs (102 balls). PWI had conceded four extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Rohit eventually scored 37 off 41 balls, which included three boundaries. Fourteen balls after Rayudu’s dismissal, he was caught by Dinda. Richardson broke the 19-run stand.

Maxwell, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a six, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten, as was Harbhajan, who faced three balls, scoring four. His runs came by way of a boundary.

MI, who scored 116 for the loss of five wickets off 18.5 overs, won by five wickets with seven balls to spare.

Rasool bowled an over, conceding five. He was wicketless, as was Bhuvneshwar, who bowled a couple of overs, conceding a dozen.

Richardson bowled 3.5 overs, conceding 28. He picked up a wicket, as did Yuvraj and Mendis, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 21, the latter conceded 15.

Dinda bowled four overs, conceding 35. He picked up a couple of scalps.
