KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Eoin Morgan and Iqbal Abdulla made way for Debabrata Das and Sachithra Senanayake.
RCB made one changes to their playing eleven – Jamaluddin Syed (Moham)made
way for Abhimanyu Mithun.
On winning the toss, Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 22, and lost a wicket.
Cheteshwar Pujara, who faced 14 balls, scored just five. Twenty-seven
balls into the match, he was caught by Lakshmipathy Balaji. Senanayake broke
the 15-run stand.
Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, faced 14 balls, scored 17. Twenty-five balls
later, Jacques Kallis, the player of the match, broke the 31-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off 9.3 overs (57 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Chris Gayle, whose 36-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored
33. Twenty-seven balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was stumped by Manvinder
Bisla. Sunil Narine broke the 24-run stand.
De Villiers, whose 22-ball innings included A Boundary and a six, scored
28. Sixteen balls (Bis)later, he was caught behind. Balaji broke the 25-run
stand.
Saurabh Tiwary, who faced three balls, scored a run. Three balls later,
he was trapped leg before wicket by Narine, who broke the one-run stand.
RCB scored 100 off 17 overs (102 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Moises Henriques, who faced 11 balls, scored as many. Five balls after
Saurabh’s dismissal, he was caught by Manoj Tiwary. Kallis broke the six-run
stand.
Vinay Kumar, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored 14. He
was unbeaten.
Ravi Rampaul, who faced three balls, didn’t get off the mark. Narine had
a reason to be in seventh heaven – he trapped him leg be‘four’ wicket.
Mithun, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. A couple of balls
later, he was caught by Manoj. Narine broke the run-a-ball stand.
Murali Kartik, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Half-a-dozen
balls later, Balaji broke the four-run stand.
Jaydev Unadkat, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
KKR eventually conceded three extras. RCB scored 115 for the loss of
nine wickets off 20 overs.
Ryan ten Doeschate and Yusuf Pathan bowled an over apiece. While the former
conceded 14, the latter conceded half-a-dozen. They were wicketless, as was
Rajat Bhatia, who bowled a couple of overs, conceding 14.
Senanayake, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up a wicket.
Balaji and Kallis bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of wickets
apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 17.
Narine, who bowled four overs, conceded 22. He picked up four scalps.

KKR’s openers didn’t get off the mark. Bisla, who faced a couple of
balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls into the chase, he was caught
by Henriques off the bowling of Rampaul.
Gambhir, whose 15-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 14.
Thirty-three balls later, he was caught by Gayle. Vinay broke the 31-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off 8.3 overs (51 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at
that point.
Yusuf, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary and the only six of the
innings, scored 18. Twenty-eight balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was trapped
leg before wicket by Kartik, who broke the 30-run stand.
Kallis, whose 45-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 41.
Thirty-seven balls later, he was caught by Henriques. Mithun broke the 35-run
stand.
KKR scored 100 off 16.5 overs (101 balls). RCB had conceded five extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Manoj, whose 27-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 24.
Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Kohli. Needless to say, Vinay was in
seventh heaven.
Ten Doeschate, whose innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11.
He had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten, as was Bhatia, who
faced four balls, scoring three.
KKR, who scored 116 for the loss of five wickets off 19.2 overs, won by
five wickets with four balls to spare.
Unadkat, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 27.
Mithun, who bowled four overs, conceded 37. He picked up a wicket, as
did Rampaul (whose spell included a maiden) and Kartik, who bowled four overs each,
conceding 17 apiece.
Vinay, who bowled 3.2 overs, conceded 17. He picked up a couple of
scalps.
