Yuvraj-led KXIP beat Bangalore comfortably

RCB (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Rajesh Bishnoi, Karn and Dale Steyn made way for Ross Taylor, Vinay Kumar and Pankaj Singh.

KXIP made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Taruwar Kohli and Vikramjeet Malik made way for Wilkin Mota and Ranadeb Bose.

On winning the toss, Kevin Pietersen, RCB’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49, and lost three wickets.

Uthappa, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Seven balls (Rob)into the match, he was caught by Yuvraj Singh, KXIP’s skipper. Irfan Pathan broke the six-run stand.

Jesse Ryder, whose 21-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, scored 32. Twenty-five balls (Abdul)later, Yusuf broke the 42-run stand.

The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Pietersen, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Karan Goel off the bowling of Abdulla.

RCB scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). KXIP had conceded an extra at that point.

Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. RCB had scored 71 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Jacques Kallis had scored 30, Rahul Dravid was batting on eight.

Dravid, who faced 13 balls, eventually scored 10. Twenty-nine balls after Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by V R V Singh. Piyush Chawla broke the 25-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 13.4 overs (82 balls). KXIP had conceded an extra at that point.

Kallis’ half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 38 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 29 balls. While Kallis’ contribution to the partnership was 28, Taylor’s contribution to it was 19. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

Kallis, whose 46-ball innings included five boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 62. Thirty-six balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Mahela Jayawardene. Abdulla broke the 61-run partnership.

Virat Kohli, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Seven balls later, he was caught by Ravi Bopara, the player of the match. V R V broke the eight-run stand.

RCB scored 150 off 18.1 overs (109 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Taylor, whose 22-ball innings included four boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 35. Half-a-dozen balls after Virat’s dismissal, he was caught by Jayawardene. Abdulla broke the 17-run stand.

Although his innings included a six, Praveen Kumar had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored 13. Three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Pathan, who broke the three-run stand.

Vinay, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Pankaj, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Pathan.

Anil Kumble, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. He was unbeaten.

KXIP eventually conceded eight extras. RCB scored 168 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs.

Bopara, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded four.

Bose, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 24.

Yuvraj, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 28.

Chawla, who bowled four overs, conceded 19. He picked up a wicket.

Pathan, who bowled four overs, conceded 35. He picked up three wickets.

Abdulla, who bowled four overs, conceded 31. He picked up four scalps.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 44, without the loss of a wicket.

KXIP’s openers put on 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). RCB had conceded 10 extras at that point. While Bopara’s contribution to the partnership was 22, Goel’s contribution to it was 18.

KXIP’s openers eventually put on 52. Goel, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored 19. Forty balls into the chase, Vinay and Uthappa ran him out.

Ten overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. KXIP had scored 80 for the loss of a wicket at that point. While Bopara had scored 31, Kumar Sangakkara had scored 19.

Sangakkara, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, eventually scored 26. Thirty-five balls after Goel’s dismissal, he was caught by Pankaj. Kumble broke the 40-run partnership.

KXIP scored 100 off 13.4 overs (82 balls). RCB had conceded 11 extras at that point.

Bopara’s half-century – which included three boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 46 balls.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Bopara’s contribution to the partnership was 34, Yuvraj’s contribution to it was 17. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

KXIP scored 150 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). RCB had conceded 11 extras at that point.

Bopara, whose 59-ball innings included four boundaries and five sixes, eventually scored 84. Thirty-four balls later, he was caught by Ryder. Kallis broke the 66-run partnership.

Yuvraj, whose 17-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 30. He was unbeaten, as was Jayawardene, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

RCB eventually conceded 13 extras. KXIP scored 173 for the loss of three wickets off 19 overs, won by seven wickets with an over to spare.

Vinay bowled a wicketless over, conceding four.

Ryder, Pankaj and Pietersen bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 23, 20, and 16, respectively.

Praveen bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 36.

Kallis and Kumble bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. While the former conceded 51, the latter conceded 19.
