Ganguly-led KKR beat Bangalore comfortably

KKR made one changes to their playing eleven – Laxmi Ratan Shukla made way for Rohan Gavaskar.

RCB made three changes to their playing eleven – Ross Taylor, Mark Boucher and Vinay Kumar made way for Shreevats Goswami, Eoin Morgan and Dale Steyn.

On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 24, and lost three wickets.

Goswami, who faced 10 balls, scored eight. His runs came by way of a boundaries. Three overs into the (Shar)match, he was caught by Ishant. Charl Langeveldt broke the 15-run stand.

Manish Pandey had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he didn’t get off the mark. Nine balls later, Angelo Mathews broke the two-run stand.

Virat Kohli, who faced five balls, scored a couple. Seven balls later, he was caught by Mathews. Murali Kartik broke the three-run stand.

Although his innings included a six, Morgan had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored 10. Ten balls later, Kartik broke the 15-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off nine overs (55 balls). KKR had conceded three extras at that point.

Rahul Dravid, whose 16-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 21. Twenty-nine balls after Morgan’s dismissal, Mathews broke the 38-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 16.2 overs (99 balls). KKR had conceded four extras at that point.

Uthappa, whose 17-ball (Rob)innings included a boundary, scored 20. Thirty-two balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Wriddhiman Saha. Mathews broke the 37-run stand.

Roelof van der Merwe, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Three balls later, he was caught by Brad Hodge. Mathews broke the two-run stand.

Kallis’ half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries – came off 47 balls.

He eventually scored 65 off 52 balls, which included seven boundaries and a six. He was unbeaten, as was Praveen Kumar, who faced five balls, scoring three.

KKR eventually conceded five extras. RCB scored 135 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.

Hodge and Gavaskar bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 11, the latter conceded eight.

Ganguly, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 18.

Sharma, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 27.

Langeveldt, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up a wicket.

Kartik, who bowled four overs, conceded 22. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Mathews, who bowled four overs, conceded 19. He picked up four scalps.

The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 61, without the loss of a wicket.

KKR’s openers put on 50 off five overs (30 balls). RCB hadn’t conceded any extras at that point. While Hodge was batting on 23, Manoj Tiwary, the player of the match, was batting on 29.

KKR’s openers put on 100 off 11.3 overs (69 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point. While Hodge was batting on 48, Tiwary had scored a half-century. The latter’s 28-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes.

In fact, Tiwary, who eventually faced 29 balls, failed to add to the aforementioned score. Seventy balls into the chase, he was caught by van der Merwe, who broke the 101-run partnership.

Hodge’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off 44 balls.

In fact, he eventually faced 45 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned score. Fourteen balls after Tiwary’s dismissal, he was caught by Pandey. Van der Merwe broke the 11-run stand.

Ganguly, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 23. Twenty-six balls later, he was caught by Morgan. Praveen broke the 21-run stand.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who faced 15 balls, scored just five. He was unbeaten, as was Owais Shah, who faced five balls, scoring a couple.

RCB eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. KKR, who scored 136 for the loss of three wickets off 19.2 overs, won by seven wickets with four balls to spare.

Kohli, who bowled a couple of wicketless balls, conceded a run.

Kallis, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 34.

Steyn and Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 38, the latter conceded 19.

Praveen, who bowled four overs, conceded 16. He picked up a wicket.
