Warne-led RR beat Hyderabad comfortably

DC (Shar)made ten changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Adam Gilchrist, Mohnish Mishra, the Singhs (Anirudh and Harmeet), the Sharmas (Rohit and Rahul), Andrew Symonds, Dwayne Smith, Venugopal Rao, and Ryan Harris made way for Shikhar Dhawan, Ishank Jaggi, Kumar Sangakkara (who was leading the team), Bharat Chipli, Jean-Paul Duminy, Christian, Dwaraka Ravi Teja, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma.

RR made eight changes to their playing eleven – Shane Watson, Naman Ojha, Yusuf Pathan, Aaron Finch, Adam Voges, Paras Dogra, Faiz Fazal, and Kamran Khan made way for the Amits (Paunikar and Singh), Rahul Dravid, Johan Botha, Ross Taylor, Ashok Menaria, Jacob Oram and Stuart Binny.

On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 45, and lost a couple of wickets.

Dhawan, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 24. Thirty balls into the match, he was caught by Abhishek Raut. Amit Singh broke the 40-run stand.

The second-wicket pair (Trive)didn’t get off the mark. Sangakkara, who faced three balls, didn’t open his account. Four balls later, he was caught by Paunikar off the bowling of Siddharth, the player of the match.

Ravi Teja, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 28. Ten balls later, he was caught by Menaria. Amit Singh broke the 16-run stand.

Although his six-ball innings included a boundary, Steyn had no reason to be in seventh heaven – a couple of balls later, he was caught by Botha. Amit Singh broke the four-run stand.

Amit Mishra, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten, as was Ishant, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

DC scored 137 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Binny and Menaria bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 14, the latter conceded eight.

Oram, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 13.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 31, and lost a wicket.

RR scored 50 off 8.3 overs (52 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While Dravid’s contribution to the partnership was 20, Botha’s contribution to it was 31. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Dravid, whose 35-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually scored 28. Forty-three balls after Paunikar’s dismissal, Steyn broke the 52-run partnership.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Botha’s contribution to the partnership was 31, Taylor’s contribution to it was 21. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Botha, whose 47-ball innings included eight boundaries and a six, eventually scored 67. He was unbeaten, as was Taylor, who didn’t add to the aforementioned score. His 14-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes.

DC eventually conceded five extras. RR, who scored 141 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 18.5 overs, won by eight wickets with seven wickets to spare.
