RR made a couple of Chan(dila)ges to their playing eleven – Ashok Menaria and Amit Singh made way for Pankaj Singh and Ajit.
RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Andrew McDonald and
Arun Karthik made way for Tillakaratne Dilshan and K P Appanna.
On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 37, and lost a wicket.
Virat Kohli, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 16. Twenty-two balls into the match, he was caught by Brad Hodge. Pankaj
broke the 23-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). RR had conceded a couple of
extras at that point.
Mayank Agarwal, whose 17-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 15. Thirty-six balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Hodge.
His namesake, Brad Hogg, broke the 37-run stand.
Chris Gayle, who faced eight balls, was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by
Hogg. Needless to say, the latter was in seventh heaven a dozen balls later.
RCB scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). RR had conceded nine extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 22 balls. While Dilshan’s contribution
to the partnership was 19, the contribution of A B de Villiers, the player of
the match, to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was half-a-dozen.
Dilshan’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a
six – came off 43 balls.
RCB scored 150 off 18 overs (109 balls). RR had conceded 15 extras at
that point.
De Villiers’ half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes
– came off 21 balls.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 100 off 45 balls. While Dilshan’s contribution
to the partnership was 34, de Villiers’ contribution to it was 53. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was 14.
Dilshan, whose 58-ball innings included 10 boundaries, in addition to
the six, eventually scored 76. He was unbeaten, as was de Villiers, who
eventually scored 59. His 23-ball innings included the aforementioned number of
boundaries, in addition to five sixes.
RR eventually conceded 19 extras. RCB conceded 189 for the loss of three
wickets off 20 overs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Siddharth Trivedi, Kevon Cooper (whose spell included a maiden) and
Chandila were wicketless. They conceded 44, 35, and 29, respectively.
Pankaj, who conceded 32, picked up a wicket.
Hogg, who bowled 39, picked up a couple of scalps.

Appanna broke the 56-run partnership.
Owais Shah, whose 15-ball innings included a six, scored 10. Twenty-three
balls later, he was stumped by de Villiers. Appanna broke the 24-run stand.
Shreevats Goswami, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Four balls
later, he was caught by Agarwal. Needless to say, Appanna was in seventh
heaven.
Dravid’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off 34
balls.
He eventually scored 58 off 42 balls, which included eight boundaries. Eight
balls after Goswami’s dismissal, he was caught by Dilshan. Appanna broke the
four-run stand.
RR scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). RCB had conceded eight extras
at that point.
Hodge, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. Ten balls
after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Agarwal. Harshal Patel broke the
run-a-ball stand.
Stuart Binny, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 20. He was unbeaten.
Cooper, who faced half-a-dozen boundaries, scored eight. His runs came
by way of boundaries. A dozen balls after Hodge’s dismissal, he was caught by
Daniel Vettori, RCB’s skipper. Zaheer Khan broke the 18-run stand.
Hogg, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. Nineteen
balls later, he was caught by Vinay Kumar. Patel broke the 24-run stand.
RCB eventually conceded 10 extras. RR, who scored 143 for the loss of
seven wickets off 20 overs, lost by 46 runs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Vinay and Vettori were wicketless. While the former conceded 37, the
latter conceded 20.
Khan, who conceded 30, picked up a wicket.
Patel, who conceded 32, picked up two wickets.
Appanna, who conceded 19, picked up four scalps.
