CSK made no changes to their playing eleven.
RR made a couple of changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Graeme Smith
and Mahesh Rawat made way for Niraj and Kamran Akmal.
On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, and lost a wicket.
Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary and a
six, scored 16. Thirty-two balls into the match, he was caught by Ravindra
Jadeja. Yusuf Pathan, the player of the match, broke the 39-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Parthiv Patel, whose 33-ball innings included five boundaries, scored
38. Twenty-two balls after Sivaramakrishnan’s dismissal, he was caught by
Akmal. Pathan broke the 25-run stand.
Albie Morkel, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 16.
Twenty-two balls later, he was caught by Akmal. Pathan broke the 31-run stand.

included a boundary and a couple of sixes. He was unbeaten.
Chamara Kapugedera, who faced a dozen balls, scored eight. Seventeen
balls after Raina’s dismissal, he was caught by Swapnil Asnodkar. Sohail Tanvir
– the holder of Purple Cap (which is awarded to the highest run-getter in the
IPL each season) – broke the 20-run stand.
CSK scored 150 off 19.2 overs (117 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave RR no reason to be in seventh heaven. That was,
incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Subramaniam Badrinath, whose two-ball innings included a boundary,
scored half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten.
CSK scored 163 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Eighteen balls later, he was caught by Raina. Morkel broke the 22-run stand.
The third-wicket pair put on a run. (Akm)Although the Pakistani’s

half-a-dozen. Three balls later, Makhaya Ntini ran him out.
RR scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Watson’s contribution

65-run partnership.
Mohammad Kaif, whose (Dho)nine-ball innings included a six, scored a
dozen. Seventeen balls later, he was caught behind. Muralitharan broke the
32-run stand.
The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Jadeja, who faced a ball,
didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Kapugedera off the
bowling of Morkel.
The seventh-wicket pair put on four. Pathan eventually scored 56 off 39
balls. Three balls later, Raina ran him out.

seven wickets off 20 overs, won by three wickets.
