Zoysa and Halhadar Das made way for Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris and Sanjay
Bangar.
On winning the toss, Yuvraj Singh, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, without the loss of
a wicket.
DC’s openers put on 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). KXIP had conceded a
couple of extras at that point. While the contribution of Adam Gilchrist, DC’s
skipper, to the partnership was 23, Gibbs’ contribution to it was 26.
Gibbs, whose 34-ball innings included three boundaries and as many
sixes, eventually scored 44. Sixty-seven balls into the match, Gagandeep broke
the 79-run partnership.
DC’s openers put on 100 off 13.3 overs (81 balls). KXIP had conceded four
extras at that point.
While Gilchrist’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries
and a six – came off 40 balls, Rohit Sharma’s half-century – which included three
boundaries and four sixes – came off 26 balls.
Interestingly, neither of them added to their aforementioned score.
Gilchrist faced 42 balls. Twenty-two balls after Gibbs’ dismissal, Powar
broke the 32-run stand.
Sharma faced 27 balls. Seventeen balls later, V R V Singh broke the 38-run
stand.
DC’s openers put on 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). KXIP had conceded four
extras at that point.
Venugopal Rao, who faced five balls, scored a couple. Seven balls after
Sharma’s dismissal, he was caught by Piyush Chawla. Sreesanth broke the 14-run stand.
Chamara Silva, whose innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,
scored 23. He was unbea‘ten’.
Styris, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
KXIP eventually conceded five extras. DC scored 175 for the loss of four
wickets off 20 overs.
Yuvraj, who bowled an over, conceded 18. He was wicketless, as was
Chawla, who bowled four overs, conceding 31.
Gagandeep, who bowled three overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket,
as did V R V, Sreesanth and Powar, who bowled four overs apiece. They conceded
40, 29 and 20, respectively.

score. Forty-six balls into the chase, he was caught by Silva. Sharma broke the
84-run partnership.
KXIP scored 100 off 9.4 overs (58 balls). DC had conceded a couple of
extras at that point.
Yuvraj, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
17. Thirty balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Rudra Pratap
Singh. Pragyan Ojha broke the 33-run stand.
Marsh’s half-century – which included three boundaries and a couple of sixes
– came off 40 balls.
He eventually scored 60 off 46 balls, which included three boundaries
and as many sixes. Eighteen balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, he was caught by
Gibbs. Styris broke the 20-run stand.
Luke Pomersbach, whose 12-ball innings included a six, scored 13. Eight balls
later, he was caught by Sharma. Ojha broke the 12-run stand.
Mahela Jayawardene, whose innings included a six, scored 14. He was unbea‘ten’.
Piyush Chawla, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 16. He was unbeaten.
DC eventually conceded eight extras. KXIP, who scored 178 for the loss
of four wickets off 19.3 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with three balls to
spare.
Paidikalva Vijaykumar and Ojha bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece.
While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 23.
Rudra Pratap, who bowled 3.3 wicketless overs, conceded 37.
Styris and Sharma bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece.
While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 25.
Ojha, who bowled four overs, conceded 30. He picked up a couple of
scalps.
