DD (Moham)made three changes to their playing eleven – A B de Villiers, Yo Mahesh and Pradeep Sangwan made way for Dinesh Karthik, Rajat Bhatia and Asif.
DC made a couple of Cha(minda)nges to their playing eleven – Sanjay Bangar
and Vaas made way for Shahid Afridi and Twenty20 debutant P M Sarvesh Kumar.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 48, and lost a wicket.
Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, faced a couple of balls, failing to open
his account. An over into the match, he was caught by Rudra Pratap Singh.
Needless to say, Paidikalva Vijaykumar was in seventh heaven.
DD scored 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that
point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Gautam Gambhir’s
contribution to the partnership was 30, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was
17. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.
Gambhir’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of
sixes – came off 34 balls.
DD scored 100 off 12.1 overs (73 balls). DC had conceded four extras at
that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 69 balls. While Gambhir’s

Farveez Maharoof, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 19. Fifteen balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was caught by Rohit
Sharma. Ojha broke the 26-run stand.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 24. Tillakaratne Dilshan, whose six-ball
innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 16. Thirteen balls
later, Gilchrist ran him out.
Manoj Tiwary, who faced a ball, scored a boundary. He was unbeaten.
DC eventually conceded eight extras. DD scored 194 for the loss of four
wickets off 20 overs.
Afridi, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 18.
Venugopal Rao, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 23.

Rao, whose 18-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of
sixes, scored 34. Five balls later, he was caught by Shoaib Malik. McGrath
broke the 17-run stand.
Dwaraka Ravi Teja, whose five-ball innings included a six, scored nine.
Five balls later, he was caught by Malik. Mishra broke the nine-run stand.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ojha, who faced a ball, didn’t
open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Dilshan off the bowling of Mishra.
The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Rudra Pratap, who faced a
couple of balls, scored a run. The next ball, he was stumped by Karthik off the
bowling of Mishra.
Vijaykumar and Sarvesh, who scored a run apiece, were unbeaten. While
the former faced a ball, the latter faced a couple of balls.
DC, who scored 182 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs, lost by 12
runs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four wickets apiece.
Asif and Bhatia were wicketless. While the former conceded 51, the
latter conceded 32.
McGrath and Maharoof bowled two wickets apiece. While the former
conceded 42, the latter conceded 39.
Mishra conceded 17, picking up five scalps.
