KKR (Moham)made one change to their playing eleven – Salman Butt made
way for his compatriot, Hafeez.
On winning the toss, Yuvraj Singh, KXIP’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49, and lost
a wicket.
Hopes, whose 12-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 18.
Twenty-three balls into the match, he was caught by Brad Hodge. Ashok Dinda broke
the 28-run stand.
When KXIP had scored 49 for the loss of a wicket, Kumar Sangakkara, who had
scored 10, retired hurt. He resumed when they had scored 106 for the loss of
five wickets.
KXIP scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). KKR had scored three extras at
that point.
Yuvraj, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,
scored 17. Thirty-one balls after Hopes’ dismissal, he was stumped by Wriddhiman
Saha. Hafeez broke the 54-run partnership. The second-wicket pair had put on 23

Shaun Marsh, whose 32-ball innings included five boundaries and a six,
scored 40. Fifteen balls later, he was stumped by Saha. David Hussey broke the 16-run

Four balls after Marsh’s dismissal, he was caught by Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s

The fifth-wicket pair put on four. Although his innings included a
boundary, Karan Goel had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored

stand.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored 10.
Twenty-eight balls after Das’ dismissal, V R V Singh broke the 21-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Hussey’s
contribution to the partnership was 26, Saha’s contribution to it was 25. Extras
didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Hussey’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of
sixes – came off 38 balls.
KKR scored 150 off 18.2 overs (110 balls). KXIP had scored half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
The sixth-wicket pair put on 100 off 52 balls. While Hussey’s
contribution to the partnership was 54, Saha’s contribution to it was 46. Extras
didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Hussey, whose 46-ball innings included the aforementioned number of boundaries
and as many sixes, eventually scored 71. Fifty-five balls after Shukla’s
dismissal, he was caught by Hopes. Gagandeep Singh broke the 104-run partnership.
Saha’s half-century – which included a boundary and four sixes – came off
28 balls.
He eventually scored 59 off 32 balls, which included a couple of
boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten,
as was Agarkar, who faced a couple of balls, scoring a run.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave KXIP no reason to be
in seventh heaven. KKR, who scored 169 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off
20 overs, lost by nine runs.
Chawla bowled an over, conceding 16. He was wicketless, as was Hopes, who
bowled three overs, conceding 35.
The Singhs bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While Gagandeep
conceded 43, V R V conceded 31.
Sreesanth and Pathan bowled four overs each, picking up two scalps apiece.
While the former conceded 25, the latter conceded 18.
