Kumble-led RCB beat Delhi comfortably

DD made three changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Tillakaratne Dilshan, Amit Mishra and Dirk Nannes made way for Andrew McDonald, Twenty20 debutant Yogesh Nagar and Vettori.

RCB made one change to their playing eleven – Vinay Kumar made way for Manish Pandey.

On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 37, and lost three wickets.

Sehwag, whose faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Three balls into the match, he was caught by Ross Taylor. Praveen broke the one-run stand.

The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Mithun Manhas, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Jacques Kallis, the player of the match, off the bowling of Praveen.

Gautam Gambhir, whose 19-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 27. Thirty-one balls later, he was caught by Taylor. Kallis broke the 36-run stand.

DD scored 50 off eight overs (48 overs). RCB hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. DD had scored 63 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While A B de Villiers had scored 27, Dinesh Karthik had scored nine.

De Villiers, whose 29-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 28. Thirty-three balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, Roelof van der Merwe broke the 28-run stand.

McDonald, who faced four balls, scored three. Half-a-dozen balls later, Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, broke the five-run stand.

DD scored 100 off 16 overs (96 overs). RCB had conceded an extra at that point.

Nagar, whose run-a-ball (Rob)innings included a boundary, scored 20. Thirty-two balls after McDonald’s dismissal, he was caught by Uthappa. The (Kumb)leggie broke the 39-run stand.

Karthik, whose 29-ball innings included a boundary, scored 31. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Uthappa. Praveen broke the five-run stand.

Farveez Maharoof, who faced 13 balls, scored 18. He was unbeaten, as was Vettori, who faced a couple of balls, scoring four.

RCB eventually conceded three extras. DD scored 134 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.

Balachandra Akhil and Virat Kohli bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 20, the latter conceded 12.

Van der Merwe and Kallis bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 31, the latter conceded 17.

Kumble, who bowled four overs, conceded 24. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Praveen, who bowled four overs, conceded 30. He picked up three scalps.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 27, and lost a wicket.

Uthappa, who faced five balls, scored a run. An over into the chase, he was caught by Karthik. Ashish Nehra broke the two-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 9.2 overs (56 overs). DD hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 52 balls. While Kallis’ contribution to the partnership was 27, Rahul Dravid’s contribution to it was 23. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Ten overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. RCB had scored 54 for the loss of a wicket at that point. While Kallis had scored 29, Dravid had scored 24.

Dravid, whose 34-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually scored 38. Sixty-nine balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Nagar, who broke the 70-run partnership.

RCB scored 100 off 14.4 overs (89 overs). DD had conceded an extra at that point.

Kallis’ half-century – which included a boundary and a couple of sixes – came off 51 balls.

He eventually scored 58 off 56 balls, which included a couple of boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten.

Taylor, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary and three sixes, scored 25. Fifteen balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Vettori. Nagar broke the 29-run stand.

Mark Boucher, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, was unbea‘ten’.

DD eventually conceded three extras. RCB, who scored 135 for the loss of three wickets off 19 overs, won by seven wickets with an over to spare.

Maharoof, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded nine.

McDonald, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 22.

Vettori and Aavishkar Salvi bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 30.

Nehra, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket.
