Hyderabad trounced by Tendulkar-led MI

MI made no changes to their playing eleven.

DC (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Venugopal Rao, Kemar Roach and Harmeet Singh made way for V V S Laxman, Ryan Harris and Rahul.

On winning the toss, Sachin Tendulkar, MI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 53, without the loss of a wicket.

MI’s openers put on 50 off 5.5 overs (35 balls). DC had conceded four extras at that point. While Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 14, Tendulkar’s contribution to it was 33.

Dhawan, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored 14. Thirty-seven balls into the match, he was (Gilchri)stumped by Adam, DC’s skipper. Pragyan Ojha broke the 53-run partnership.

Tendulkar, whose 25-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 35. Rahul had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he trapped him leg before wicket, breaking the two-run stand.

Dwayne, who faced eight balls, scored just a couple. Ten balls later, Ojha Br(av)oke the seven-run stand.

MI scored 100 off 13.3 overs (81 balls). DC had conceded five extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 35 balls. While Saurabh Tiwary’s contribution to the partnership was 31, the contribution of Ambati Rayudu, the player of the match, to it was 18. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Tiwary, whose 35-ball innings included a boundary and three sixes, eventually scored 44. Forty-six balls after Bravo’s dismissal, he was caught by Harris. Ojha broke the 65-run partnership.

MI scored 150 off 18.3 overs (111 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Rayudu’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 28 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 19 balls. While Rayudu’s contribution to the partnership was 29, Kieron Pollard’s contribution to it was 21. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Rayudu eventually faced 29 balls, scoring 55. He was unbeaten.

Pollard, whose 10-ball innings included three boundaries, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Twenty balls after Tiwary’s dismissal, he was caught by Andrew Symonds. Harris broke the 51-run partnership.

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave DC no reason to be in seventh heaven.

MI scored 178 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Jaskaran Singh, who bowled two wicketless overs, conceded 28.

Rohit Sharma, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 26.

Symonds, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 32.

Herschelle Gibbs, whose 15-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 17. Twenty-five balls into the match, he was caught by Tendulkar. Zaheer Khan broke the 30-run stand.

The second-wicket pair put on 10. Laxman had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored four. Ten balls later, Pollard and Rayudu ran him out.

DC scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). MI hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Gilchrist, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary and the only six of the innings, scored 19. A couple of ball after Laxman’s dismissal, he was dismissed by Khan.

Mohnish Mishra had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored five. Four balls later, he was caught by Bravo. Pollard broke the two-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 15.2 overs (93 balls). MI had conceded five extras at that point.

Harris, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. Eighteen balls after Mishra’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhawan. McLaren broke the 20-run stand.

Although his innings included a boundary, Rahul had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored five. Eleven balls later, he was caught by Bravo. Harbhajan Singh broke the 10-run stand.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Tirumalasetti Suman, who faced 16 balls, scored 11. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Rayudu off the bowling of Harbhajan.

Jaskaran Singh, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. He was unbeaten.
