Neither CSK nor MI made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the fourth over. They scored 40, without the loss
of a wicket.
Murali Vijay, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 26. Forty-four balls into the match, he was caught by Saurabh
Tiwary. Dilhara Fernando broke the run-a-ball stand.
Matthew Hayden, whose 31-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 17. Eight balls later, he was caught by Ambati Rayudu. Kieron Pollard
broke the three-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). MI had conceded three extras at
that point.
Subramaniam Badrinath, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries, scored 14. Sixteen balls after Hayden’s dismissal, he was caught by
Lasith Malinga. Fernando broke the 20-run stand.
CSK scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). MI had conceded four extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 25 balls. While the contribution of
Suresh Raina, the player of the match, to the partnership was 29, Dhoni’s
contribution to it was 20. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.
Dhoni, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,

addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 18. Albie Morkel, whose six-ball innings
included a boundary and a six, scored 15. Fourteen balls after Dhoni’s
dismissal, Rayudu ran him out.
Srikkanth Anirudha scored half-a-dozen off three balls, which included a
boundary. He was unbeaten.
MI eventually conceded 11 extras. CSK scored 168 for the loss of five
wickets off 20 overs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Malinga and Harbhajan Singh were wicketless. While the former conceded
33, the latter conceded 30.
Pollard and Khan picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded

Harbhajan, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. He was trapped leg
be‘four’ wicket by Raina, who broke the six-run stand.
Tendulkar, whose 45-ball innings included seven boundaries, eventually
scored 48. Fourteen balls later, he was caught by Vijay. Shadab Jakati broke
the 26-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). CSK had conceded 11 extras at
that point.
Tiwary, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Three
balls later, he was caught by Raina. Morkel broke the one-run stand.
Jean-Paul Duminy had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen.
Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Jakati. Muttiah Muralitharan broke the 14-run
stand.
The seventh-wicket pair put on 28. Rayudu, whose 14-ball innings included

The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Pollard, whose 10-ball innings

The (Dho)ninth-wicket pair put on a run. Khan, who faced three balls,
scored a run. Three balls later, Ravichandran Ashwin and the man from Ranchi
ran him out.
Malinga, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten, as was
Fernando, who faced a couple of balls, scoring as many.
CSK eventually conceded 12 extras. MI, who scored 146 for the loss of
nine wickets off 20 overs, lost by 22 runs.
Ashwin bowled four wicketless overs, including a maiden. He conceded 24.
Raina, who bowled two overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket.
Morkel, who bowled three overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket.
Bollinger and Muralitharan bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket
apiece. While the former conceded 31, the latter conceded 17.
Jakati, who bowled three overs, conceded 26. He picked up a couple of scalps.
CSK won the 2010 IPL.
