KXIP (Shar)made three changes to their playinG(o)eleven – Mahela Jayawardene, Karan and Vikramjeet Malik made way for Kumar Sangakkara (who chose to bat on winning the toss), Bipul and Sreesanth.
RCB made no changes to their playing eleven.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, and lost a
wicket.
Shaun Marsh, who faced nine balls, scored just a couple. Ten balls into
the match, he was caught by Rahul Dravid. Vinay Kumar broke the three-run
stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). RCB hadn’t conceded any extras
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 34 balls. While Manvinder Bisla’s
contribution to the partnership was 22, Sangakkara’s contribution to it was 25.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.
Bisla, whose 26-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 28.
Forty-four balls after Marsh’s dismissal, Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, broke the
63-run partnership.
Sangakkara, whose 27-ball innings included eight boundaries, scored 45.
Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Jacques Kallis. Dale Steyn broke the
18-run stand.
KXIP scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). RCB had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Ravi Bopara’s
contribution to the partnership was 18, Yuvraj Singh’s contribution to it was 31.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Bopara, whose 33-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 42. He
was unbeaten.
Yuvraj, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of
sixes, eventually scored 36. Thirty-nine balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he
was caught by Cameron White. Kallis broke the 65-run partnership.
KXIP scored 150 off 18 overs (109 balls). RCB had conceded nine extras
at that point.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 31. Irfan Pathan, whose five-ball (Rob)innings
included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 16. Thirteen balls later, Manish
Pandey and Uthappa ran him out.
Brett Lee, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
RCB eventually conceded 11 extras. KXIP scored 181 for the loss of five
wickets off 20 overs.
Kevin Pietersen, the player of the match, bowled an over, conceding
eight. He was wicketless, as was Praveen Kumar, who bowled four overs,
conceding 37.
Vinay, who bowled three overs, conceded 24. He picked up a wicket, as
did Kallis, Kumble and Steyn, who bowled four overs apiece. They conceded 45,
33, and 31, respectively.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 51, and lost a wicket.
Bisla kept wicket in place of Sangakkara.
Kallis, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Twenty-six
balls into the chase, he was caught by Bisla. Shalabh Srivastava broke the
28-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (37 balls). KXIP had conceded an extra
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 26. Pandey, whose 25-ball innings included
three boundaries, scored 29. Seventeen balls after Kallis’ dismissal, Sharma broke
the 26-run stand.
RCB scored 100 off 12.3 overs (76 balls). KXIP had conceded four extras
at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Pietersen’s contribution
to the partnership was 23, Virat Kohli’s contribution to it was 26. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was three.
Kohli, whose 26-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 42. Fifty-one after Pandey’s dismissal, he was caught by
Pathan. Sharma broke the 76-run partnership.
RCB scored 150 off 16.5 overs (102 balls). KXIP had conceded four extras
at that point.
Pietersen’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a six –
came off 37 balls.
He eventually scored 66 off 44 balls, which included seven boundaries,
in addition to the six. He was unbeaten.
Uthappa, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 22. Fifteen balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by
Bisla. Pathan broke the 40-run stand.
White, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten.
KXIP eventually conceded 10 extras. RCB, who scored 184 for the loss of
four wickets off 19.1 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with five balls to
spare.
Piyush Chawla bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceding 22.
Sreesanth and Yuvraj bowled a couple of wicketless overs each, conceding
14 apiece.
Lee bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 48.
Srivastava bowled a couple of overs, conceding 21. He picked up a
wicket.
Pathan bowled 3.1 overs, conceding 36. He picked up a wicket.
Sharma bowled four overs, conceding 26. He picked up a wicket.
