KKR made four changes to their playing eleven – Mandeep Singh, Charl Langeveldt and Ishant (Shar)made way for Cheteshwar Pujara, Shane Bond and Mohnish Parmar.
DC made one change to their playing eleven – Rudra Pratap Singh made way
for Harmeet Singh.
On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s skipper and the player of the
match, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 46, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Chris Gayle had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just four.
His runs came by way of a boundary. Fourteen balls into the match, he was
caught by Kemar Roach. Andrew Symonds broke the 15-run stand.
Pujara, whose 13-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 17.
Twenty-two balls later, he was caught by Pragyan Ojha. Symonds broke the 31-run
stand.
KKR scored 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave DC no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Manoj Tiwary had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored five.
Fifteen balls after Pujara’s dismissal, Ojha broke the 22-run stand.
Ganguly’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and a couple of
sixes – came off 39 balls.
KKR scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). DC had conceded nine extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While Ganguly’s
contribution to the partnership was 35, David Hussey’s contribution to it was
17. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Ganguly, whose 54-ball innings included nine boundaries and five sixes,
eventually scored 88. Fifty-one balls after Tiwary’s dismissal, he was caught
by Rohit Sharma. Ojha broke the 78-run stand.
KKR scored 150 off 17.1 overs (103 balls). DC had conceded 13 extras at
that point.
Angelo Mathews, who faced four balls, scored as many. Seven balls after
Ganguly’s dismissal, he was caught by Herschelle Gibbs. Jaskaran Singh broke
the 13-run stand.
David Hussey, whose 27-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 31. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Gibbs. Jaskaran
broke the four-run stand.
Wriddhiman Saha, whose four-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries, was unbea‘ten’.
Ajit Agarkar, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight.
He was unbeaten.
DC eventually conceded 14 extras. KKR scored 181 for the loss of
half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.
Venugopal Rao bowled a wicketless over, conceding 10.
Harmeet and Rohit bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the former
conceded 21, the latter conceded 16.
Roach bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 48.
Jaskaran bowled three overs, conceding 18. He picked up a couple of
scalps, as did Ojha and Symonds, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former
conceded 38, the latter conceded 26.

– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 59, and lost a wicket.
Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, scored nine. His five-ball innings
included a couple of boundaries. Sixteen balls into the chase, he was caught by
Pujara. Agarkar broke the 31-run stand.
DC scored 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of
extras at that point.
Mohnish Mishra, whose 16-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries,
scored 29. Thirty-five balls after Gilchrist’s dismissal, he was caught by
Tiwary. Mathews broke the 46-run stand.
DC scored 100 off 12.2 overs (74 balls). KKR had conceded five extras at
that point.
Gibbs’ half-century – which included five boundaries and a six – came
off 43 balls.
He eventually faced 45 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned score.
Thirty-five balls after Mishra’s dismissal, he was caught by Hussey. Shane Bond
broke the 44-run stand.
Rohit, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. Murali Kartik had
a reason to be in seventh heaven – he broke the four-run stand.
DC scored 150 off 19.2 overs (116 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave KKR no reason to be in seventh heaven. That was, incidentally,
the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Symonds, whose 37-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 45.
Twenty-five balls after Rohit’s dismissal, he was caught by Kartik. Gayle broke
the 26-run stand.
Tirumalasetti Suman, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of sixes,
scored 15. He was unbeaten, as was Rao, who didn’t face a ball.
DC, who scored 157 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs, lost by 24
runs.
Parmar bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 33.
Gayle bowled an over, conceding nine. He picked up a wicket, as did Agarkar,
Kartik, Bond and Mathews, who bowled four overs apiece. They conceded 31, 29,
28, and 25, respectively.
