RR made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Gautam Gambhir, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 52, and lost three wickets.
David Warner, who faced eight balls, scored four. Nineteen balls into
the match, Sumit Narwal broke the 24-run stand.
Virender Sehwag, whose 12-ball innings included three boundaries and a
six, scored 19. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Paras Dogra. Narwal
broke the one-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). RR had conceded three extras at
that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 25. Paul Collingwood, whose eight-ball innings
included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 16. Thirteen balls after
Sehwag’s dismissal, Adam Voges and Naman Ojha ran him out.
Kedar Jadhav, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10.
