Kolkata trounced by Vettori-led RCB

KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Manvinder Bisla and Brett Lee made way for Brad Haddin and Jaydev Unadkat.

RCB (Moham)made three changes to their playing eleven – Mayank Agarwal, Johan van der Wath and Ryan Ninan made way for Chris Gayle (the player of the match), Sreenath Aravind and Syed.

On winning the toss, Daniel Vettori, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, and lost a wicket.

Haddin, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 18. Twenty-nine balls into the match, he was caught by Virat Kohli. Mohammad broke the 44-run stand.

KKR scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). RCB had conceded eight extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 45 balls. While Jacques Kallis’ contribution to the partnership was 20, the contribution of Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper, to it was 27. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

KKR scored 100 off 12.5 overs (78 balls). RCB had conceded 10 extras at that point.

Kallis, whose 42-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually scored 40. Fifty-two balls after he was caught by Gayle. Vettori broke the 58-run partnership.

Gambhir, whose 38-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, scored 48. Twenty-four balls later, he was caught by Tillakaratne Dilshan. Aravind broke the 37-run stand.

KKR scored 150 off 17.5 overs (108 balls). RCB had conceded a dozen extras at that point.

Yusuf Pathan, whose 24-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, scored 46. Fourteen balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was caught by Kohli. Aravind broke the 30-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on a couple. Eoin Morgan, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored as many. A couple of balls later, A B de Villiers and Aravind ran him out.

Manoj Tiwary, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

RCB eventually conceded 13 extras. KKR scored 171 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Kohli, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded nine.

Dilshan and Gayle bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 15, the latter conceded nine.

Zaheer Khan, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 53.

Vettori and Mohammad bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 28, the latter conceded 20.

Aravind, who bowled three overs, conceded 37. He picked up a couple of scalps.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 57, without the loss of a wicket.

RCB’s openers put on 50 off 5.3 overs (33 overs). KKR had conceded an extra at that point. While Dilshan’s contribution to the partnership was 30, Gayle’s contribution to it was 21.

Gayle’s half-century – which included five boundaries and four sixes – came off 29 balls.

RCB’s openers put on 100 off 10.2 overs (62 overs). KKR had conceded an extra at that point. While Dilshan’s contribution to the partnership was 36, Gayle’s contribution to it was 67.

Dilshan, whose 31-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, eventually scored 38. Seventy-three balls into the chase, Lakshmipathy Balaji broke the 123-run partnership.

RCB scored 150 off 14.5 overs (89 overs). KKR had conceded four extras at that point.

Gayle’s ton – which included 10 boundaries and seven sixes – came off 55 balls. In fact, he eventually scored 102, and was unbeaten.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 18, Kohli’s contribution to it was 30. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

Kohli, whose 23-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. He was unbeaten.

KKR eventually conceded five extras. RCB, who scored 175 for the loss of a wicket off 18.1 overs, won by nine wickets with 11 balls to spare.

Tiwary, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 14.

Iqbal Abdulla, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 12.

Shakib Al Hasan, who bowled 2.1 wicketless overs, conceded 29.

Rajat Bhatia, Pathan, and Jaydev Unadkat bowled three wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 28, 25, and 24, respectively.
