RR made one change to their playing eleven – Amit Singh made way for
Nayan Doshi.
On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 47, without the loss of
a wicket.
RR’s openers put on 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). CSK had conceded five
extras at that point. While Shane Watson’s contribution to the partnership was
25, Rahul Dravid’s contribution to it was 21.
Watson, whose 26-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually
scored 32. Sixty-one balls into the match, he was caught by Shadab Jakati, who
broke the 86-run partnership.
Ashok Menaria, who faced eight balls, scored a couple. Thirteen balls
later, he was caught by Murali Vijay. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the six-run
stand.
RR scored 100 off 13.2 overs (80 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at
that point.
Johan Botha, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight.
Thirteen balls after Menaria’s dismissal, he was caught by Suresh Raina. Jakati
broke the 17-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair failed to get off the mark. Ross Taylor, whose

was caught by Michael Hussey off the bowling of Morkel.
Stuart Binny, who faced seven balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten, as
was Dishant Yagnik, who faced a ball, scoring a run.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave CSK no reason to be
in seventh heaven. RR scored 147 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20
overs.

Doug Bollinger, who was wicketless, conceded 28.
Ashwin and Randiv picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded
36, the latter conceded 32.
Morkel and Jakati picked up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former
conceded 24, the latter conceded 22.
Vijay, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Eleven
balls into the chase, he was trapped leg before wicket by Botha, who broke the
eight-run stand.

he was caught by Botha. Siddharth broke the 137-run partnership.
Hussey, whose 55-ball innings included eight boundaries and a six, eventually
scored 79. He was unbeaten, as was Morkel, who did not face a ball.
RR eventually conceded four extras. CSK, who scored 149 for the loss of
a couple of wickets off 18.4 overs, won by eight wickets with eight balls to
spare.
Menaria and Binny bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former
conceded 13, the latter conceded a dozen.
Doshi, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 24.
Warne, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 14.
Watson, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 27.
Trivedi, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceded 37. He picked up a wicket, as did
Botha, who bowled four overs, conceding 22.
