Hyderabad disappointed; Gambhir-led KKR win

DC made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Jean-Paul Duminy and Harmeet Singh made way for Dwaraka Ravi Teja and Dale Steyn.

KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Shreevats Goswami and Ryan ten Doeschate made way for Mark Boucher and Jaydev Unadkat.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, and lost a wicket.

Morgan, whose 15-ball (Eo)innings included a six, scored 14. Thirty-four balls into the match, Daniel Christian broke the 36-run stand.

KKR scored 50 off 7.2 overs (44 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that point.

Jacques Kallis, whose 31-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 30. Thirty-two balls after Morgan’s dismissal, he was caught by Ravi Teja. Amit Mishra broke the 43-run stand.

Gautam Gambhir, whose 22-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 35. Four balls later, he was caught by Sangakkara. Pragyan Ojha broke the five-run stand.

KKR scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). DC had conceded five extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While the contribution of Yusuf Pathan, the player of the match, to the partnership was 29, Manoj Tiwary’s contribution to it was 20. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

KKR scored 150 off 18.1 overs (111 balls). DC had conceded eight extras at that point.

Pathan, whose 26-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 47. He was unbeaten.

Tiwary, whose 28-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 33. Fifty balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was caught by Shikhar Dhawan. Steyn broke the 80-run partnership.

Boucher, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

DC eventually conceded 10 extras. KKR scored 169 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Dhawan bowled an over, conceding four. He was wicketless, as was Ishant Sharma, who bowled four overs, conceding 37.

Mishra bowled three overs, conceding 22. He picked up a wicket, as did Christian, Ojha, and Steyn, who bowled four overs apiece. They conceded 39, 32, and 31, respectively.

The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Sangakkara, whose faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Kallis off the bowling of Abdulla.  

DC scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). KKR hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

Cameron White, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. Twenty-six balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, Rajat Bhatia broke the 27-run stand.

Christian, who faced three balls, scored a run. He was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Bhatia, who broke the two-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Dhawan’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a six – came off 41 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 22, Ravi Teja’s contribution to it was 27. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Ravi Teja, whose 22-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 30. Thirty-seven balls after Christian’s dismissal, Brett Lee broke the 56-run partnership.

Dhawan, who faced 45 balls, eventually scored 54. Three balls later, Kallis broke the two-run stand.

Bharat Chipli, whose seven-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored a dozen. He was unbeaten, as was Mishra, who faced nine balls, scoring as many.

KKR eventually conceded four extras. DC, who scored 149 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs, lost by 20 overs.

Lakshmipathy Balaji and Pathan bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 27, the latter conceded 19.

Kallis bowled two overs, conceded 12. He picked up a wicket, as was Lee, who bowled four overs, conceding 30.

Abdulla and Bhatia bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 34, the latter conceded 26.
