Khan made way for Nathan McCullum and Murali Kartik.
On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49, and lost a wicket.
Jesse Ryder, whose 12-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 18.
Three overs into the match, he was stumped by Dishant Yagnik. Johan Botha broke
the 24-run stand.
PWI scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). RR hadn’t conceded any extras at
that point.
Uthappa, whose 21-ball (Rob)innings included seven boundaries, scored
35. Thirty-two balls after Ryder’s dismissal, he was caught by Yagnik. Warne
broke the 46-run stand.
The third-wicket pair put on 21. Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, faced 11
balls, and had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 23 balls later, Siddharth
Trivedi ran him out.
Manish Pandey, whose 31-ball innings included four boundaries, scored
30. Four balls later, he was caught by Ross Taylor, the player of the match.
Trivedi broke the two-run stand.
PWI scored 100 off 14.4 overs (88 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Harpreet Singh, who faced 19 balls, scored 13. Thirty-two balls after
Pandey’s dismissal, he was caught by Ajinkya Rahane. Shane Watson broke the
28-run stand.
Mithun Manhas, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 24. Seven balls later, he was caught by Stuart Binny. Trivedi broke the
13-run stand.
McCullum, whose six-ball innings included a six, scored 11. He was unbeaten.
The seventh-wicket pair put on a run. Rahul, who faced a ball, didn’t get
off the (Shar)mark. A couple of balls after Manhas’ dismissal, Yagnik and Trivedi
ran him out.
Kartik, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. He was unbeaten.
RR eventually conceded five extras. PWI scored 143 for the loss of seven
wickets off 20 overs.
Ashok Menaria bowled an over, conceding 10. He was wicketless, as was
Amit Singh, who bowled three overs, conceding 29.
Warne, Botha and Watson bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket
apiece. They conceded 31, 23, and 19, respectively.

Menaria, whose 22-ball innings included three sixes, scored 29. Twenty-four
balls later, he was caught by Thomas. Sharma broke the 23-run stand.
RR scored 100 off 15.4 overs (95 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave PWI no reason to be in seventh heaven.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While Ross’ contribution to
the partnership was 33, Rahane’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was four.
Ross, whose 35-ball innings included four boundaries and a couple of
sixes, eventually scored 47. He was unbeaten, as was Rahane, who scored 15. His
nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries.
PWI eventually conceded 11 extras. RR, who scored 144 for the loss of
four wickets off 19.3 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with three balls to
spare.
Yuvraj bowled a wicketless over, conceding nine.
McCullum bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 22.
Jerome Taylor bowled 3.3 wicketless overs, conceding 22.
Kartik bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 41.
Thomas bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 28, picking up
a wicket.
Sharma bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 13, picking up
three scalps.
