Hyderabad lose to M S-led CSK

CSK made a couple of changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Nuwan Kulasekara and Tim Southee made way for Albie, the player of the match, and Suraj Randiv.

DC made three changes to their playing eleven – Dwaraka Ravi Teja, Manpreet Gony and Dale Steyn made way for Jean-Paul Duminy, Pragyan Ojha and Harmeet Singh.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost a wicket.

Murali Vijay, who faced 14 balls, scored just three. Twenty-two balls into the match, Pragyan Ojha broke the 18-run stand.

CSK scored 50 off 8.3 overs (51 balls). DC had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 47 balls. While Michael Hussey’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Suresh Raina’s contribution to it was 22. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Hussey, whose 41-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually scored 46. Fifty-three balls after Vijay’s dismissal, he was caught by Ishant Sharma. Harmeet broke the 60-run partnership.

CSK scored 100 off 15.2 overs (92 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Raina’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen and a six – came off 31 balls.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 47 balls. While Raina’s contribution to the partnership was 32, the contribution of the man from Ranchi to it was (Dho)nineteen. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Raina, whose 35-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 59. Thirty-two balls after Hussey’s dismissal, he was caught by Shikhar Dhawan. Ojha broke the 58-run partnership.

CSK scored 150 off 18.5 overs (115 balls). DC had conceded nine extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 21. Morkel, whose six-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 19. Ten balls after Raina’s dismissal, Cameron White and Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, ran him out.

Dhoni, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 21. Three balls later, he was stumped by Sangakkara. Ojha broke the five-run stand.

Both Subramaniam Badrinath and Srikkanth Anirudha bowled a couple of balls apiece, and were unbeaten.

While the former, whose innings included a boundary, scored five, the latter scored three.

CSK scored 165 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Amit Mishra, Duminy and Daniel Christian bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 34, 21, and a dozen, respectively.

Ishant, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 41.

Harmeet, who bowled three overs, conceded 26. He picked up a wicket.

Ojha, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up three scalps.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 64, without the loss of a wicket.

DC’s openers put on 50 off 4.2 overs (26 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded. While Sunny Sohal’s contribution to the partnership was 40, Dhawan’s contribution to it was half-a-dozen.

Sohal’s half-century – which included five boundaries and four sixes – came off 24 balls.

He eventually scored 56 off 30 balls, which included half-a-dozen boundaries and four sixes. Forty-one balls into the chase, Shadab Jakati broke the 71-run partnership.

Dhawan, who faced 27 balls, eventually scored 19. Twenty-five balls later, Jakati broke the 19-run stand.

DC scored 100 off a dozen overs (72 balls).

Bharat Chipli, who faced 15 balls, scored 17. Fourteen balls after Dhawan’s dismissal, he was caught by Jakati. Morkel broke the 20-run stand.

Sangakkara, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 15. Fifteen balls later, Doug Bollinger broke the 11-run stand.

White, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. Fourteen balls later, he was caught by the substitute, Faf du Plessis. Morkel broke the 16-run stand.

Duminy, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 17. Five balls later, he was caught by Hussey. Morkel broke the six-run stand.

The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Christian, who faced a ball, scored a run. A couple of balls later, Dhoni ran him out.

Mishra, who faced five balls, scored a couple. Four balls later, he was caught by Bollinger, who broke the three-run stand.

Ishant, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

CSK eventually conceded five extras. DC, who scored 146 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 19 runs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Randiv and Ravichandran Ashwin were wicketless. While the former conceded 34, the latter conceded 23.

Bollinger and Jakati picked up two wickets apiece. While the former conceded 26, the latter conceded 23.
