Pune lose to Vettori-led RCB

RCB (Moham)made changes to their playing eleven – Cheteshwar Pujara made way for Kaif.

PWI made three changes to their playing eleven – Mohnish Mishra, Mitchell Marsh and Murali Kartik made way for Tim Paine, Harpreet Singh and Kamran Khan.

On winning the toss, Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 57, without the loss of a wicket.

RCB’s openers put on 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). PWI hadn’t conceded any extras at that point. While Chris Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 36, Tillakaratne Dilshan’s contribution to it was 15.

Dilshan, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Forty balls into the (Shar)match, Rahul broke the 57-run partnership.

Gayle, whose 26-ball innings included four boundaries and aS(har)many sixes, eventually scored 49. Fourteen balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by the leggie, who scored the 17-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 12.5 overs (77 balls). PWI had conceded an extra at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While the contribution of Virat Kohli, the player of the match, to the partnership was 38, A B de Villiers’ contribution to it was 14. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

De Villiers, whose 20-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 26. Forty-six balls after Gayle’s dismissal, he was caught by Sharma. Alfonso Thomas broke the 66-run partnership.  

Kohli’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 36 balls.

RCB scored 150 off 17.2 overs (104 balls). PWI had conceded a couple of extras at that point. That was incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Kohli, whose 42-ball innings included the aforementioned number of boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 67. Eleven balls after de Villiers’ dismissal, he was caught by Harpreet. Thomas broke the 29-run stand.

Saurabh Tiwary, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 14. Seven balls later, he was caught by Harpreet. Jerome Taylor broke the 10-run stand.

Kaif, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. He was unbeaten, as was Abhimanyu Mithun, who didn’t face a ball.

RCB scored 181 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Mithun Manhas, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded nine.

Jesse Ryder and Yuvraj, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 20, the latter conceded 10.

Kamran, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 37.

Taylor, who bowled four overs, conceded 44. He picked up a wicket.

Sharma and Taylor bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 27, the latter conceded 23.  

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, and lost a wicket.

Paine, who faced 17 balls, scored eight. Thirty-one balls into the chase, he was caught by Daniel Vettori, RCB’s skipper. Aravind broke the (Sreena)thirty-five-run stand

PWI scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). RCB had conceded four extras at that point.

Jesse Ryder’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 31 balls.

He eventually scored 51 off 34 balls. Thirty-eight balls after Paine’s dismissal, he was caught by Kaif. Syed Mohammad broke the 44-run stand.

PWI scored 100 off 13.4 overs (82 balls). RCB had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Manish Pandey, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 19. Fifteen balls after Ryder’s dismissal, he was caught by Tiwary. Vettori broke the 22-run stand.

Yuvraj, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 41. Seventeen balls later, he was caught by Syed Mohammad. Zaheer Khan broke the 30-run stand.

Uthappa, whose 17-ball (Rob)innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 23. He was unbeaten.

Manhas, who faced five balls, scored three. Ten balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, he was caught by Kaif. Gayle broke the six-run stand.

PWI scored 150 off 19.3 overs (117 balls). RCB had conceded nine extras at that point. That was incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Harpreet, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

PWI, who scored 155 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs, lost by 26 runs.

Mithun, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 26.

Syed Mohammad and Gayle bowled a couple of overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 26, the latter conceded eight.

Aravind, Zaheer and Vettori bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. They conceded 35, 33, and 23, respectively.
