KTK made three changes to their playing (Micha)eleven – Raiphi Gomez, Kedar Jadhav and Thisara made way for Klinger, Balachandra Akhil and Ramesh Powar.
DD made one change to their playing eleven – James Hopes made way for Roelof
van der Merwe.
On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper and the player of the
match, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost a couple
of wickets.
David Warner had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just
three. Seven balls into the match, Sreesanth broke the four-run stand.
The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Naman Ojha, who faced
three balls, didn’t open his account. Three balls later, he was trapped leg
before wicket by Sreesanth.
Venugopal Rao, who faced 10 balls, scored a run. Twenty-eight balls
later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Ravindra Jadeja, who broke the
31-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 10.4 overs (64 balls). KTK had conceded 10 extras at
that point.
Sehwag’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes –
came off 36 balls.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 47 balls. While Sehwag’s contribution
to the partnership was 25, Yogesh Nagar’s contribution to it was 21. Extras’
contribution to the partnership was four.
The fourth-wicket pair eventually put on 56. Nagar, whose 30-ball innings
included a boundary, eventually scored 22. Twenty-five balls after Rao’s
dismissal, Jadeja and Parthiv Patel ran him out.
DD scored 100 off 15.1 overs (92 balls). KTK had conceded 12 extras at
that point.
Sehwag eventually scored 80 off 47 balls, which included eight boundaries
and five sixes. Nineteen balls after Rao’s dismissal, he was caught by Brad
Hodge. Vinay Kumar broke the 41-run stand.
Travis Birt, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a
six, scored 20. Five balls later, he was caught by Vinay. Powar broke the
13-run stand.
DD scored 150 off 19.3 overs (118 balls). KTK had conceded 16 extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
The seventh-wicket pair put on a dozen. Irfan Pathan, whose seven-ball innings
included a boundary and a six, scored 13. Eight balls later, Rudra Pratap Singh
ran him out.
Van der Merwe, who faced four balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten.
DD scored 157 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.
Akhil, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 22. He was wicketless, as
was Rudra Pratap, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.
Powar, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket,
as did Vinay and Jadeja, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded
41, the latter conceded 27.
Sreesanth bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 10, picking
up a couple of scalps.

had no reason to be in seventh heaven – the next ball, Pathan broke the
five-run stand.
Patel, who faced three balls, scored a run. Fourteen balls later, Pathan
broke the 13-run stand.
KTK scored 50 off 9.3 overs (57 balls). DD had conceded eight extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Mahela Jayawardene, KTK’s skipper, scored 18 off 28 balls, which
included a couple of boundaries. Thirty-one balls after Patel’s dismissal, he
was caught by Sehwag. Ajit Agarkar broke the 22-run stand.
Hodge, whose 25-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 27.
Twenty-one balls later, he was caught by Ojha. Morkel broke the 27-run stand.
Akhil, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored 13. Thirteen balls
later, he was caught by Ojha. Morkel broke the 16-run stand.
KTK scored 100 off 16.1 overs (97 balls).
Jadeja, whose 22-ball innings included three boundaries and a six,
scored 31. Sixteen balls after Akhil’s dismissal, he was caught by van der
Merwe. Agarkar broke the 25-run stand.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Powar, who faced a ball,
didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by van der Merwe.
The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Sreesanth, who faced a
couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was
dismissed by van der Merwe.
Vinay, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored 11. A couple of
balls later, he was caught by Umesh Yadav. Van der Merwe broke the one-run
stand.
Rudra Pratap, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
KTK, who were dismissed for 119 off 18.5 overs, lost by 38 runs.
Yadav bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 28.
Pathan and Agarkar bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of
wickets apiece. While the former conceded 27, the latter conceded 23.
Van der Merwe bowled 3.5 overs, conceding 20. He picked up three scalps,
as did Morkel, who bowled four overs, conceding 18.
