On winning the toss, Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost four wickets.
Jesse Ryder, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored a dozen. Twenty-two ballS(ach)into the match, he was caught by
Tendulkar, MI’s skipper. Nechim broke the 16-run stand.
Mithun Manhas, who faced a ball, failed to get off the mark. A couple of
balls later, he was caught by Ambati Rayudu. Nechim broke the one-run stand.
The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Paine, who faced nine
balls, scored a couple. Three balls later, he was dismissed by Munaf Patel, the
player of the match.
The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Yuvraj, who faced a
couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was
caught by Rayudu off the bowling of Patel.
PWI scored 50 off 8.2 overs (51 balls). MI had conceded nine extras at
that point.
Mohnish Mishra, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored a dozen. Twenty-four balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, he was caught by
Rohit Sharma. Ali Murtaza broke the 35-run stand.
Kartik, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11.
Twenty-seven balls later, he was caught by Andrew Symonds. Malinga broke the (Lasi)thirty-five-run
stand.
Uthappa, whose 37-ball (Rob)innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and
a six, scored 45. Eight balls later, he was caught by Kieron Pollard. Murtaza
broke the 11-run stand.
PWI scored 100 off 15 overs (94 balls). MI had conceded a dozen extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Wayne Parnell, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored
eight. Eleven balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, Franklin broke the 13-run stand.
Shrikant Wagh, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. Four balls
later, he was caught by Symonds. Needless to say, Malinga was in seventh
heaven.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the (Shar)mark. Rahul, whose
nine-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 13. Four balls later,
he was caught by Murtaza off the bowling of Patel.
Alfonso Thomas, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. He
was unbeaten.
PWI were dismissed for 118 off 17.2 overs.
Pollard, who bowled a wicketless overs, conceded 13.
Franklin, who bowled three overs, conceded 32. He picked up a wicket.
Nechim bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded 13, picking up
a couple of wickets.
Malinga and Murtaza bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of
wickets apiece. While the former conceded 28, the latter conceded 18.
Patel, who bowled 2.2 overs, conceded eight. He picked up three scalps.

Tendulkar, whose 39-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually
scored 35. Seventy-two balls after Franklin’s dismissal, he was caught by
Thomas. Rahul broke the 74-run partnership.
Rayudu, whose 40-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually
scored 37. Eight balls later, he was caught by Rahul. Thomas broke the six-run
stand.
MI scored 100 off 17.1 overs (103 balls). PWI had conceded 10 extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Rohit, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 20.
He was unbeaten, as was Symonds, who scored 16. His 15-ball innings included a
couple of boundaries.
MI, who scored 124 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs, won by
seven wickets.
Yuvraj, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded five.
Ryder, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 15.
Kartik and Parnell bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former
conceded 29, the latter conceded 28.
Wagh, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded nine. He picked up a wicket.
Rahul, who bowled three overs, conceded 14. He picked up a wicket.
Thomas, who bowled four overs, conceded 16. He picked up a scalp.
