Tendulkar-led MI triumph over Hyderabad

MI made one change to their playing eleven – James Franklin made way for Davy Jacobs.

DC (Shar)made one change to their playing eleven – Harmeet Singh made way for Ishant.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 57, and lost a wicket.

Jacobs, whose 20-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, scored 32. Thirty-one balls into the match, he was caught by Pragyan Ojha. Ishant broke the 47-run stand.

MI scored 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). DC hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

It was the 38th birthday of Tendulkar, who scored 28. His 24-ball (Sach)innings included four boundaries. Nineteen balls after Jacobs’ dismissal, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Amit Mishra broke the 23-run stand.

The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ambati Rayudu, who faced eight balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – a couple of balls later, he was caught by Shikhar Dhawan off the bowling of Mishra.

The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Kieron Pollard, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. Three balls later, he was caught by Sangakkara off the bowling of Ojha.  

MI scored 100 off 14.5 overs (89 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 45 balls. While Rohit Sharma’s contribution to the partnership was 30, Andrew Symonds’ contribution to it was 20. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

MI scored 150 off 19.1 overs (115 balls). DC had conceded four extras at that point.

Rohit’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes – came off 33 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 100 off 65 balls. While Rohit’s contribution to the partnership was 56, Symonds’ contribution to it was 44. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Both Rohit and Symonds were unbeaten, and neither of them added to their aforementioned score. While the former’s 34-ball innings included five boundaries and three sixes, the latter’s 33-ball innings included four boundaries and a six.

DC eventually conceded five extras. MI scored 172 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Daniel Christian and Steyn were wicketless. While the former conceded 48, the latter conceded 39.

Ishant and Ojha picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 39, the latter conceded 29.

Mishra, who conceded 14, picked up a couple of scalps.

DC scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). MI had conceded five extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 13. Cameron White had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a run. Eleven balls after Dhawan’s dismissal, Malinga ran him out.

Bharat Chipli, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Rajagopal Sathish. Pollard broke the 16-run stand.

Sangakkara, whose 28-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 34. Twenty-three balls later, Malinga broke the run-a-ball stand.

Christian, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 21. Seven balls later, he was stumped by Jacobs. Munaf Patel broke the six-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 14.5 overs (89 balls). MI had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Dwaraka Ravi Teja, who faced four balls, scored a run. Five balls after Christian’s dismissal, he was caught by Malinga, who broke the two-run stand.

Mishra, whose 19-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 25. He was unbeaten.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 27. Steyn, who faced nine balls, scored four. Twenty balls after Ravi Teja’s dismissal, Symonds and Abu raN(ec)him out.

Ishant, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

MI eventually conceded a dozen extras. DC, who scored 135 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 37 runs.

Sathish, who faced two overs, conceded 12. He was wicketless, as were Harbhajan Singh and Nechim, who bowled four overs, conceding 27, apiece.

Pollard, who bowled two overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket, as did Patel, who bowled four overs, conceding 35.

Malinga, who bowled four overs, conceded nine. He picked up three scalps.
