RCB made three changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Cheteshwar
Pujara, Vettori and Abhimanyu Mithun made way for Arun Karthik, Abrar Kazi and
Charl Langeveldt.
On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 43, without the loss of
a wicket.
RR’s openers put on 50 off 6.5 overs (42 balls). RCB had conceded a
couple of extras at that point. While Shane Watson’s contribution to the
partnership was 20, Rahul Dravid’s contribution to it was 28.
Watson, whose 29-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of
sixes, eventually scored 34. Fifty-eight balls into the match, he was caught by
A B de Villiers. Sreenath Aravind, the player of the match, broke the 73-run
partnership.
The second-wicket pair D(rav)id not get off the mark. ‘The Wall’, whose
31-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, eventually scored 37. A
couple of balls later, he was caught by Aravind off his own bowling.
RR scored 100 off 13.1 overs (80 balls). RCB had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 29. Ajinkya Rahane, whose 10-ball innings included
a boundary and a six, scored 17. Twenty-two balls after Dravid’s dismissal, A B
de Villiers and Karthik ran him out.
Johan Botha, whose 20-ball innings included a boundary, scored 19.
Eighteen balls later, he was caught by Karthik. Aravind broke the 20-run stand.
Ross Taylor, who faced 13 balls, scored as many. Five balls later, he
was caught by Mohammad Kaif. Langeveldt broke the two-run stand.
Ashok Menaria, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight.
Seven balls later, he was caught by Kaif. Chris Gayle broke the nine-run stand.
Abhishek Raut, who faced eight balls, scored five. He was unbeaten, as
was Dishant Yagnik, who faced five balls, scoring a couple.
RCB eventually conceded 11 extras. RR scored 146 for the loss of half-a-dozen
wickets off 20 overs.
Kazi, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 21.
Kohli, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 17.
Zaheer Khan, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 23.
Gayle, who bowled three overs, conceded 23. He picked up a wicket, as
was Langeveldt, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.
Aravind, who bowled four overs, conceded 34. He picked up three scalps.

RCB scored 100 off 11.3 overs (69 balls). RR had conceded four extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Gayle’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of
sixes – came off 33 balls.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 49 balls. While Gayle’s contribution
to the partnership was 32, Kohli’s contribution to it was 21. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was a run.
Gayle, whose 44-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and four
sixes, eventually scored 70. He was unbeaten, as was Kohli, who eventually
scored 39. His 34-ball innings included three boundaries and a six.
RCB scored 150 off 17 overs (102 balls). In fact, they scored 151 for
the loss of a wicket, winning by nine wickets with three overs to spare.
Taylor, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 11.
Pankaj, Watson, Menaria and Siddharth Trivedi bowled a couple of
wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 23, 19, 16, and a dozen, respectively.
Botha, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 42.
Warne, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up the only wicket
that fell.
