MI made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Sachin Tendulkar, MI’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 39, and lost
a wicket.
Paul Valthaty, whose run-a-ball innings included three boundaries,
scored 14. Twenty-two balls into the match, he was caught by Aiden Blizzard.
Munaf Patel broke the 22-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 6.5 overs (41 balls). MI had conceded 11 extras at
that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 34 balls. While Adam Gilchrist’s
contribution to the partnership was 19, Shaun Marsh’s contribution to it was 24.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was nine.
Gilchrist, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and
a six, eventually scored 28. Forty-two balls after Valthaty’s dismissal, he was
caught by Ambati Rayudu. Lasith Malinga broke the 70-run partnership.
KXIP scored 100 off a dozen overs (72 balls). MI had conceded 20 extras
at that point.
Shaun Marsh, whose 34-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually scored
43. Twenty-eight balls after Gilchrist’s dismissal, he was caught by Kieron
Pollard. Patel broke the 36-run stand.
Hussey, who faced three balls, D(av)idn’t get off the mark. Four balls
later, he was caught by Blizzard. Patel broke the one-run stand.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 16. Mandeep, whose five-ball innings
included a six, scored eight. Nine balls later, Malinga ran him out.
Dinesh Karthik, whose 24-ball innings included four boundaries and a
six, scored 31. Four balls later, he was caught by Blizzard. Patel broke the
three-run stand.

Bipul, who faced four balls, scored half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten.
Ryan Harris, whose four-ball innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. Five balls after Karthik’s dismissal, he was caught by Pollard. Needless
to say, Patel was in seventh heaven.
Praveen Kumar, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. A couple of
balls later, Malinga broke the two-run stand.
Shalabh Srivastava, who faced a couple of balls, scored three. He was
unbeaten.
KXIP scored 163 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.
Dhawal Kulkarni, Rohit Sharma and Pollard bowled a couple of wicketless
overs apiece. They conceded 25, 24, and 11, respectively.
Tirumalasetti Suman and Harbhajan Singh bowled three wicketless overs apiece.
While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 20.
Malinga, who bowled four overs, conceded 24, He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Patel, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up five scalps.

included a boundary, scored eight. Twenty balls later, Mandeep and Gilchrist
ran him out.
MI scored 50 off as many balls (8.2 overs). KXIP had conceded three extras
at that point.
Rayudu, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
13. Eight balls after Symonds’ dismissal, he was caught by Bipul. Srivastava
broke the 10-run stand.
Suman, who faced five balls, scored four. A couple of balls later, he
was caught by Kumar. Harris broke the one-run stand.
Harbhajan, whose seven-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored a dozen. Nine balls later, Bhargav Bhatt, the player of the match, broke
the 14-run stand.
Pollard, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 17.
Ten balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Bhatt broke the 18-run stand.
The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Kulkarni, who faced four
balls, scored a couple. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Bhatt off his
own bowling.
Malinga, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Patel, who faced a ball, didn’t
get off the mark. The next ball, he was trapped leg before wicket by Bhatt.
KXIP eventually conceded five extras. MI were bundled out for 87 off
12.5 overs.
Srivastava, Harris and Bipul bowled a couple of overs each, picking up a
wicket apiece. They conceded 17, 15, and 13, respectively.
Praveen bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 19, picking
up a couple of wickets.
Bhatt bowled 2.5 overs, conceding 22. He picked up four scalps.
