On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, without the loss of
a wicket.
DC’s openers put on 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). PWI had
conceded an extra at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras
they eventually conceded. While Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership
was 24, Ravi Teja’s contribution to it was 25.
Dhawan, whose 17-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes,
eventually scored 24. Forty balls into the match, he was caught by Jesse Ryder.
Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, broke the 51-run partnership.
Ravi Teja, whose 27-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually
scored 30. Five balls later, Mitchell Marsh, the player of the match, broke the
run-a-ball stand.
Sangakkara, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen.
Twenty-one balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Rahul Sharma, who
broke the 20-run stand.
Christian, whose (Dani)eleven-ball innings included a boundary, scored
10. Twenty-one balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Yuvraj, who
broke the 22-run stand.
Bharat Chipli, whose 14-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 18. He was unbeaten.

Jean-Paul Duminy, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored
30. Twenty-two balls after Christian’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahul. Marsh
broke the 21-run stand.
Sunny Sohal, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Three balls
later, he was caught by Robin Uthappa. Marsh broke the five-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Amit Mishra, who
faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Bhuvneshwar
off the bowling of Mishra.
Dale Steyn, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11.
Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Callum Ferguson. Wayne Parnell broke
the 11-run stand.

Uthappa, who faced three balls, scored a run. Five balls after Pandey’s
dismissal, he was caught by Sangakkara. Christian broke the three-run stand.
PWI scored 100 off 13.3 overs (81 balls). DC had conceded an extra at

Yuvraj, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. Twenty-two balls after
Uthappa’s dismissal, Christian broke the 23-run stand.
Ferguson, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 15.
He was unbeaten.
DC eventually conceded three extras. PWI, who scored 137 for the loss of
four wickets off 18.2 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with 10 balls to
spare.
Duminy, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 22.
Ishant, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 25.
Steyn, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 30.
Ojha, who bowled three overs, conceded 13. He picked up a wicket, as did
Mishra, who bowled 3.2 overs, conceding 26.
Christian, who bowled three overs, conceded 21. He picked up a couple of
scalps.
