M S-led CSK crush Rajasthan

RR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Stuart Binny and Nayan Doshi made way for Abhishek Raut and Amit Singh.

CSK made one change to their playing eleven – Suraj Randiv made way for Dwayne Bravo.

On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55, without the loss of a wicket.

CSK’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). RR had conceded three extras at that point. While Michael Hussey’s contribution to the partnership was 34, the contribution of Murali Vijay, the player of the match, to it was 13.

Hussey, whose 30-ball innings included eight boundaries, eventually scored 46. Fifty-six balls into the match, Johan Botha broke the 77-run partnership.

CSK scored 100 off 12 overs (72 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point.

Vijay’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and three sixes – came off 36 balls.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 29 balls. While the contributions of Vijay and Suresh Raina to the partnership were 25 apiece, extras’ contribution to it was a couple.

The second-wicket pair eventually scored 58. Vijay, whose 40-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 53. Thirty-two balls after Hussey’s dismissal, Botha ran him out.

CSK scored 150 off 16.3 overs (99 balls). RR had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Raina, whose 27-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, eventually scored 43. Twenty-three balls after Vijay’s dismissal, Singh broke the 44-run stand.

Mahendra Singh, CSK’s skipper, scored 41, and was unbeaten. His (Dho)nineteen-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes.

Albie Morkel, who faced four balls, scored five. He was unbeaten.

RR eventually conceded eight extras. CSK scored 196 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.

Trivedi and Ashok Menaria bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded (Siddhar)thirty-three, the latter conceded 17.

Shane Watson and Warne bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 47, the latter conceded 34.

Amit and Botha bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 40, the latter conceded 23.

Rahul Dravid, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 20. Twenty-two balls into the chase, he was caught by Dhoni. Doug Bollinger broke the 27-run stand.

Watson, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Shadab Jakati. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 21-run stand.

RR scored 50 off 6.3 overs (39 balls). CSK had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Ross Taylor, who faced eight balls, scored Saha. Fifteen balls after Watson’s dismissal, he was caught by Wriddhiman. Morkel broke the run-a-ball stand.

Menaria, who faced five balls, scored a couple. (Dho)Nine balls later, he was caught behind. Needless to say, Ashwin was in seventh heaven.

RR scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Ajinkya Rahane’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off 33 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 36 balls. Twenty-six balls after Menaria’s dismissal, he was caught by Raina. Bravo broke the 35-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 24. Raut, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 19. Twenty balls later, Saha and Ashwin ran him out.

Dishant Yagnik had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just three. Seven balls later, Bollinger broke the three-run stand.

Botha, who faced 17 balls, scored 14. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Bollinger, who broke the one-run stand.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Amit, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. The next ball, he was caught by Raina off his own bowling.

Trivedi, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Warne, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls after Amit’s dismissal, he was caught by Bravo off the bowling of Raina.

RR, who were bundled out for 133 off 19.3 overs, lost by 63 runs.

Jakati bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 30.

Morkel bowled three overs, conceding 21. He picked up a wicket, as did Bravo, who bowled four overs, conceding 36.

Ashwin bowled four overs, conceding 24. He picked up a couple of wickets, as did Raina, who bowled three dot balls.
