DC made a couple of changes to their playing (Micha)eleven – Dwaraka Ravi
Teja and Dale Steyn made way for Lumb and Anand Rajan.
On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 32, and lost a wicket.
DC’s openers didn’t get off the mark. Lumb, who scored a couple of
balls, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls into the match, he was
dismissed by Lasith Malinga.
Sangakkara, whose 28-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored
27. Forty-two balls later, he was caught by Kieron Pollard. Dhawal Kulkarni broke
the 39-run stand.
DC scored 50 off 8.4 overs (52 balls). MI had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Sunny Sohal, whose 22-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored
20. Sixteen balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Andrew
Symonds. Pollard broke the 14-run stand.
Jean-Paul Duminy, who faced 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored
eight. Four balls later, he was stumped by Ambati Rayudu. Harbhajan Singh broke
the five-run stand.
Bharat Chipli, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10.
Twenty-two balls later, he was caught by Tirumalasetti Suman. Kulkarni broke
the 19-run stand.
DC scored 100 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). MI had conceded four extras at
that point.
Daniel Christian, who faced 23 balls, scored 18. Twenty-four balls after
Chipli’s dismissal, Kulkarni broke the 28-run stand.
Shikhar Dhawan, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries
and a six, scored 27. He was unbeaten, as was Amit Mishra, the player of the
match, who scored 18 off half-a-dozen balls, which included four boundaries.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave MI no reason to be in
seventh heaven. DC scored 135 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20
overs.
Suman, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 15. He was wicketless, as
did Munaf Patel, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 37.
Pollard, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 10. He picked up a
wicket, as did Harbhajan and Malinga, who bowled four overs apiece. While the
former conceded 26, the latter conceded 17.
Kulkarni, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up three scalps.

Rohit Sharma, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. His runs came
by way of a boundary. Nine balls later, he was caught by Sangakkara. Ishant
broke the six-run stand.
MI scored 50 off 10 overs (60 balls). DC had conceded 13 extras at that
point.
Symonds, who faced 19 balls, eventually scored eight. Thirty-five balls
after Rohit’s dismissal, he was caught by Ishant. Mishra broke the 29-run
stand.
Suman, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 14.
Twenty-five balls later, he was caught by Dhawan. Rajan broke the 27-run stand.
Tendulkar, whose 42-ball (Sach)innings included three boundaries, scored
37. Three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Rajan, who broke the
two-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 18.3 overs (111 balls). DC had conceded 16 extras at
that point.
Pollard, whose 13-ball innings included three boundaries and a six,
scored 24. Twenty-two balls after Tendulkar’s dismissal, he was caught by Lumb.
Rajan broke the 40-run stand.
Harbhajan, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored
17. He was unbeaten.
The eighth-wicket pair put on a couple. Malinga, who didn’t face a ball,
didn’t open his account. The next ball, Christian and Rajan ran him out.
Kulkarni, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
DC eventually conceded 18 extras. MI, who scored 125 for the loss of
eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 10 runs.
Christian bowled three overs, conceding 21. He was wicketless, as was Pragyan
Ojha, who bowled four overs, conceding 16.
Duminy bowled a couple of overs, conceding three. He picked up a wicket,
as did Mishra, who bowled four overs, conceding 18.
Ishant bowled four overs, conceding 30. He picked up a couple of wickets.
Rajan bowled three overs, conceding 27. He picked up three scalps
