DD made four changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Sridharan Sriram, Travis Birt, Morne and Aavishkar Salvi made way for Matthew Wade, Colin Ingram, Umesh Yadav and Ashok Dinda.
PWI made three changes to their playing eleven – Jesse Ryder, Wayne Parnell
and Bhuvneshwar Kumar made way for James Faulkner, Mitchell Marsh and Shrikant
Mundhe.
On winning the toss, James Hopes, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a couple
of wickets.
David Warner, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 19. Twenty-three balls into the match, Faulkner broke the 24-run
stand.
Naman Ojha, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Thirteen
balls later, he was caught by Rahul Sharma. Mundhe broke the 24-run stand.
Wade, who faced 20 balls, scored 11. Nineteen balls later, Marsh broke
the 15-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 9.3 overs (58 balls). PWI had conceded five extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Sixty-two balls (10.1 overs) into the match, there was an interruption
due to rain, which resulted in a wet ground. DD had scored 56 for the loss of
three wickets at that point [which was, incidentally, their score when the
match ended (without a result)]. While Ingram was batting on 13 off 12 balls (which
included a boundary), Venugopal Rao, who had faced a ball, hadn’t opened his
account.
Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, and Sharma bowled a wicketless over apiece.
While the former conceded eight, the latter conceded four.
Alfonso Thomas bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 15.
Mundhe bowled an over, conceding half-a-dozen. He picked up a wicket.
Faulkner bowled two overs, including a maiden. He conceded nine, picking
up a wicket.
Marsh bowled 13 balls, scoring 11. He picked up a scalp.
Both DD and PWI shared a point apiece.
