White-led DC beat Punjab comfortably

KXIP made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – David Hussey and Shalabh Srivastava made way for Ryan McLaren and Bhargav Bhatt.

DC made three changes to their playing eleven – Sunny Sohal, Kumar Sangakkara and Ishant (Shar)made way for Cameron White (who was leading the team), Twenty 20 debutant Kedar Devdhar and Anand Rajan.

On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 58, without the loss of a wicket.

DC’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven. While the contribution of Shikhar Dhawan, the player of the match, to the partnership was 30, Dwaraka Ravi Teja’s contribution to it was 15.

DC’s openers put on 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). KXIP had conceded 16 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 49, Ravi Teja’s contribution to it was 37.

While Dhawan’s half-century – which included eight boundaries – came off 35 balls, Ravi Teja’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 37 balls.

Dhawan, whose 57-ball innings included 14 boundaries and a six, eventually scored 95. He was unbeaten.

Ravi Teja, whose 41-ball innings included five boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 60. Eighty balls into the match, he was caught by Abhishek Nayar. Paul Valthaty broke the 131-run partnership.

DC scored 150 off 15.2 overs (92 balls).

Jean-Paul Duminy, whose 10-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen. Seventeen balls after Ravi Teja’s dismissal, he was caught by Shaun Marsh. Ryan Harris broke the 27-run stand.

White, who faced a dozen balls, scored 15. He was unbeaten.

DC scored 198 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 20 overs.

McLaren, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 24.

Bhatt and Praveen Kumar bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 26.

Piyush Chawla, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 48.

Harris and Valthaty bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. While the former conceded 35, the latter conceded 24.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 45, and lost a couple of wickets.

Valthaty, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Ten balls into the chase, he was caught by Rajan. Dale Steyn broke the nine-run stand.

Marsh, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 13. Eight balls later, he was caught by Rajan. Duminy broke the 13-run stand.

KXIP scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). DC had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Gilchrist’s contribution to the partnership was 38, Dinesh Karthik was unbeaten. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Gilchrist’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 36 balls.

He eventually scored 51 off 37 balls. Forty-six balls after Marsh’s dismissal, he was caught by White. Daniel Christian broke the 61-run stand.

Dinesh Karthik, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Ravi Teja. Christian broke the one-run stand.

Nayar (Oj)had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just three. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Christian. Pragyan broke the seven-run stand.

KXIP scored 100 off 15.1 overs (91 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that point.

McLaren, who faced 14 balls, scored nine. A dozen balls after Nayar’s dismissal, he was caught by Christian. Amit Mishra broke the 11-run stand.

The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Although his eight-ball innings included a boundary, Mandeep Singh had no reason to be in seventh heaven – the next ball, he was stumped by Devdhar off the bowling of Mishra.

Chawla, whose seven-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 13. He was unbeaten.

The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Harris, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. A ball after Mandeep’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhawan. Mishra complete his hat-trick.
