Sehwag delighted; DD crush Hyderabad

DC (Shar)made four changes to their playing eleven – Akshath Reddy, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Rusty Theron and Veer Pratap Singh made way for Jean-Paul Duminy, Ankit, Manpreet Gony and T P Sudhindra.

DD made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Ross Taylor and Umesh Yadav made way for Andre Russell and Venugopal Rao.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a couple of wickets.

Daniel Harris, whose 17-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 19. Twenty-nine balls into the match, he was caught by Mahela Jayawardene. Morne Morkel broke the 28-run stand.

Sangakkara, who faced five balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a boundary. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Shahbaz Nadeem. Varun Aaron broke the five-run stand.

DC scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). DD hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 35 balls. While Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 31, White’s C(amer)ontribution to it was 19. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Dhawan’s half-century – which included four boundaries and as many sixes – came off 37 balls.

DC scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). DD had conceded an extra at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 100 off 59 balls. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 58, White’s contribution to it was 45. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

White’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six – came off 33 balls.

DC scored 150 off 16.5 overs (101 balls). DD had conceded an extra at that point.

The third-wicket pair eventually put on 126. Dhawan, whose 49-ball innings included nine boundaries and five sixes, eventually scored 84. Seventy balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, Nadeem ran him out.

White, whose 40-ball innings included seven boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 65. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Ojha. Aaron broke the 20-run stand.

Duminy, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. He was unbeaten, as was Parthiv Patel, who didn’t face a ball.

DD eventually conceded a couple of extras. DC scored 187 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Irfan Pathan, who conceded 46, was wicketless.

Russell and Nadeem conceded 39 apiece, and were wicketless.

Morkel, who conceded 32, picked up a wicket.

Aaron, who conceded 30, picked up a couple of scalps.

Warner’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and three sixes- came off 26 balls.

DD scored 100 off nine overs (56 balls). DC had conceded 15 extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 55 balls. While Warner’s contribution to the partnership was 59, Ojha’s contribution to it was 26. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was 15.

DD scored 150 off 13.3 overs (83 balls). DC had conceded 16 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Ojha’s half-century – which included a boundary and four sixes- came off 38 balls.

The second-wicket pair put on 150 off 84 balls. While Warner’s contribution to the partnership was 81, Ojha’s contribution to it was 53. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was 16.

Warner’s ton – which included 10 boundaries and half-a-dozen sixes- came off 52 balls.

He eventually scored 109 off 54 balls, which included the aforementioned number of boundaries, in addition to seven sixes. He was unbeaten, as was Ojha, who eventually scored 64 off 46 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and five sixes.

DD, who scored 193 for the loss of a wicket off 16.4 overs, won by nine wickets with 20 balls to spare.

Sharma, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 16.

Ashish Reddy, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 29.

Sudhindra, who bowled 3.4 wicketless overs, conceded 43.

Amit Mishra and Gony bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 44, the latter conceded 22.

Dhawan, who bowled two overs, conceded 17. He picked up the only wicket to fall.
