Kohli elated; RCB trounce Mumbai

MI made changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Robin Peterson and Munaf made way for Kieron Pollard and Pragyan Ojha.

RCB made three changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Asad Pathan, Abhimanyu Mithun and Prasanth Parameswaran made way for Saurabh Tiwary, Vinay Kumar and Harshal.

On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 25, and lost a couple of wickets.

James, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored just a run. Eight balls (Frankl)into the match, he was caught by Zaheer Khan. Vinay broke the one-run stand.

MI scored 50 off 10.2 overs (62 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven. However, that was the number of extras they eventually conceded.

MI scored 141 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four wickets apiece.

Vinay, who conceded 34, picked up a couple of wickets.

Harshal and Muralitharan conceded 24 each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 35, without the loss of a wicket.

Tillakaratne Dilshan, whose 25-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 19. Fifty-one balls into the chase, he was trapped leg before wicket by Ojha, who broke the 48-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off nine overs (54 balls). MI had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Chris Gayle won the player of the match award. His half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 36 balls.

RCB scored 100 off 14.1 overs (86 balls). MI had conceded four extras at that point.
