Hussey delighted; KXIP beat Hyderabad

DC made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Dale Steyn (An)and Rajan made way for Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Juan ‘Rusty’ Theron.

KXIP made three changes to their playing eleven – Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Harris made way for David Miller, Siddharth Chitnis and Ramesh Powar.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, DC’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 51, without the loss of a wicket.

KXIP’s openers put on 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). DC had conceded three extras at that point.

Shaun Marsh, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 22. Forty-one balls into the match, Shikhar Dhawan broke the 55-run partnership.

Nitin Saini scored a couple. Five balls later, he was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Ashish Reddy, who broke the three-run stand.

Mandeep Singh’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 31 balls.

David Hussey, KXIP’s skipper, scored 16. His run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six. Twenty-six balls after Saini’s dismissal, he was caught by Daniel Harris. Veer Pratap Singh broke the 39-run stand.

KXIP scored 100 off 12.1 overs (73 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Mandeep, whose 48-ball innings included eight boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 75. Twenty-one balls after Hussey’s dismissal, Ashish broke the 33-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on eight. Azhar Mahmood, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 14. Nine balls later, Ashish and Theron ran him out.

KXIP scored 150 off 18.1 overs (109 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Miller, whose 18-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 28. He was unbeaten, as was Chitnis, who faced five balls, scoring half-a-dozen.

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave DC no reason to be in seventh heaven. KXIP scored 170 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Amit Mishra, Daniel and Jhunjhunwala bowled four wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 20, 15, and a dozen, respectively.

Theron, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 29.

Dhawan, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded eight. He picked up a wicket, as did Veer Pratap, who bowled four overs, conceding 45.

Ashish, who bowled four overs, conceded 39. He picked up a couple of scalps.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 40, and lost a couple of wickets.

Dhawan, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Eleven balls into the chase, he was caught by Mahmood. Praveen Kumar broke the 10-run stand.

Parthiv Patel, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 17. Nineteen balls later, Parvinder Awana broke the 21-run stand.

DC scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Daniel, whose 29-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 30. Thirty-one balls after Patel’s dismissal, he was caught by Awana. Hussey broke the 39-run stand.

Cameron White, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Three balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Hussey broke the one-run stand.

Sangakkara, whose faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. Four balls later, he was caught by Saini. Kumar broke the three-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 15.2 overs (92 balls). KXIP had conceded eight extras at that point.

Akshath Reddy, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 24. Thirty-one balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was stumped by Saini. Piyush Chawla broke the 43-run stand.

The seventh-wicket pair put on four. Jhunjhunwala, whose 20-ball innings included a six, scored 19. Five balls later, Marsh ran him out.

Ashish, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Awana broke the nine-run stand.

Although his six-ball innings included a boundary, Theron, who was unbeaten, had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Mishra, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. He was unbeaten.

KXIP eventually conceded a dozen extras. DC, who scored 145 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 25 runs.

Ramesh Powar, who bowled three overs, conceded 32. He was wicketless, as was Mahmood, who bowled four overs, conceding 31.

Chawla, who bowled four overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket.

Hussey, who bowled an over, conceded a couple. He picked up a couple of scalps, as did Awana and Kumar, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 27, the latter conceded 15.

As a result of this match, the hosts were eliminated.
