RR made one change to their playing eleven – Brad Hodge made way for
Owais Shah.
On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, PWI’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 35, and lost a wicket.
Ganguly, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored 14.
Thirty-four balls into the match, he was caught by Ashok Chavan. Shaun Tait
broke the 30-run stand.
Michael Clarke, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored 16.
Three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Stuart Binny, who broke
the five-run stand.
PWI scored 50 off 8.5 overs (53 balls). RR had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
Majumdar, whose 20-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 30. Thirty-two balls after Clarke’s dismissal, Johan Botha broke
the 42-run stand.
Robin Uthappa, who faced 19 balls, scored 13. Nine balls later, he was
caught by Dishant Yagnik. Tait broke the six-run stand.
Steven Smith, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary, scored 18. He
was unbeaten.
PWI scored 100 off 16.1 overs (97 balls). RR had conceded eight extras
at that point.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 24. Angelo Mathews, who faced a dozen
balls, scored 11. Twenty-five balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, Shah ran him
out.
Mithun Manhas, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11.
Thirteen balls later, Tait broke the 15-run stand.
Wayne Parnell, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. He was
unbeaten.
RR eventually conceded 10 extras. PWI scored 125 for the loss of
half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.
Chavan, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 20.
Siddharth Trivedi, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 20.
Watson, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 28.
Binny, who bowled three overs, conceded a dozen. He picked up a wicket,
as did Botha, who bowled four overs, conceding 25.
Tait, who bowled four overs, conceded 13. He picked up three scalps.

of wickets.
Ajinkya Rahane, who faced three balls, didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Nine
balls into the chase, he was caught by Smith. Bhuvneshwar broke the four-run stand.
Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, scored 14 off 16 balls, which included a
couple of boundaries. Twenty-seven balls later, he was caught by Clarke. Parnell
broke the 45-run stand.
RR scored 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). PWI hadn’t conceded any extras at
that point. In fact, they eventually didn’t concede any extras.
Watson’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and three
sixes – came off 27 balls.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While Watson’s contribution
to the partnership was 33, Ashok Menaria’s contribution to it was 17. Extras didn’t
contribute to the partnership.
RR scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls).
Watson, whose 51-ball innings included 10 boundaries and four sixes,
eventually scored 90. He was unbeaten.
Menaria, whose 21-ball innings included a boundary, eventually conceded
18. Forty-six balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Manhas. Clarke
broke the 56-run partnership.
Shah, who scored four, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was
unbeaten.
RR, who scored 126 for the loss of three wickets off 16.2 overs, won by
seven wickets with 22 balls to spare.
Smith bowled a couple of wicketless balls, conceding five.
Nehra, Murali Kartik and Mathews bowled three wicketless overs apiece. They
conceded 33, 32, and 15, respectively.
Parnell and Clarke bowled two overs, conceding 12, each. They picked up
a wicket apiece.
Kumar, who bowled three overs, conceded 17. He picked up a scalp.
