KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Marchant de Lange
and Iqbal Abdulla made way for Brett Lee and Pradeep Sangwan.
On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Sehwag, whose nine-ball innings included three boundaries and a six,
scored 23. Twenty-one balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by
Jacques Kallis, who broke the 40-run stand.
Warner, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,
scored 21. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Brendon McCullum. Kallis
broke the nine-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 5.5 overs (35 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 46. Mahela Jayawardene, whose 27-ball
innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 30. Forty-two balls after
Warner’s dismissal, Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper, ran him out.
DD scored 100 off 14 overs (84 balls). KKR had conceded eight extras at that
point.
Ross Taylor, who faced 27 balls, scored 16. Ten balls after Jayawardene’s
dismissal, he was caught by Rajat Bhatia. Sangwan broke the five-run stand.
Although his innings included a boundary, Yogesh Nagar had no reason to
be in seventh heaven – he scored 10. Sixteen balls later, Lee broke the 25-run
stand.
Naman, who faced (Oj)half-a-dozen balls, scored two. Thirteen balls
later, he was caught by Saurabh Tiwary. Sunil Narine broke the 21-run stand.

point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Irfan Pathan, whose 22-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
scored 36. A couple of balls after Ojha’s dismissal, he was stumped by
McCullum. Narine broke the six-run stand.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Morkel didn’t face a
ball. The (Mor)next ball, Lee ran him out.
Shahbaz Nadeem, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. He
was unbeaten.
The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Aaron, who faced a ball, didn’t
open his account. A couple of balls after Morkel’s dismissal, McCullum and
Narine ran him out.
DD scored 153 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Bhatia, who conceded 26, was wicketless.
Sangwan and Lee picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 42,
the latter, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 39.
Narine and Kallis picked up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former
conceded 23, the latter conceded 20.

– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 60, without the loss
of a wicket.
KKR’s openers put on 50 off five overs (30 balls). DD had conceded an
extra at that point. While McCullum’s contribution to the partnership was 16,
Gambhir’s contribution to it was 33.
Gambhir, whose 21-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 36. Seven overs into the chase, Aaron broke the 68-run
partnership.
KKR scored 100 off 12.3 overs (75 balls). DD had conceded four extras at
that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While McCullum’s contribution
to the partnership was 17, Kallis’ contribution to it was 28. Extras’
contribution to the partnership was five.
Kallis, whose 27-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually
scored 30. Forty-nine balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was caught by Ojha.
Umesh Yadav broke the 60-run partnership.
McCullum’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries – came off
40 balls.
The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. He eventually scored 56
off 44 balls, which included seven boundaries. A ball after Kallis’ dismissal,
he was caught by Sehwag off the bowling of Yadav.
Manoj Tiwary, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored eight. A dozen balls
later, he was caught by Irfan. Morkel broke the 19-run stand.
KKR scored 150 off 17.4 overs (106 balls). DD had conceded 14 extras at that
point.
Yusuf Pathan, who faced 11 balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven –
he was unbeaten, as was Debabrata Das, who faced three balls, scoring a run.
DD eventually conceded 16 extras. KKR, who scored 154 for the loss of
four wickets off 18.4 overs, lost by half-a-dozen wickets with eight balls to
spare.
Irfan bowled three overs, conceding 28. He was wicketless, as was
Nadeem, who bowled four overs, conceding 32.
Aaron bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 20. He picked up a wicket, as did
Morkel, who bowled four overs, conceding 35.
Yadav bowled four overs, conceding 30. He picked up two scalps.
