Virat-led RCB triumph; Hyderabad disappointed

RCB (Moham)made five changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Andrew McDonald, Saurabh Tiwary, Vettori, Vinay Kumar and K P Appanna made way for Tillakaratne Dilshan, Syed, Abhimanyu Mithun, Prasanth Parameswaran and Muttiah Muralitharan.

DC made three changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Christian, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Ankit (Shar)made way for Daniel Harris, Akshath Reddy (An)and Rajan.

On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 46, without the loss of a wicket.

DC’s openers put on 50 off 7.2 overs (44 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point. While Harris’ contribution to the partnership was 23, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was 29.

Harris, whose 41-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 47. Seventy-one balls into the match, Kohli and Syed Mohammad ran him out.

DC scored 100 off 13.3 overs (81 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

Dhawan’s half-century – which included eight boundaries – came off 39 balls.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 30 balls. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 22, White’s C(amer)ontribution to it was 30. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Dhawan, whose 52-ball innings included 10 boundaries and a six, eventually scored 73. He was unbeaten.

DC scored 150 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

White, whose 24-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 45. Forty-four balls after Harris’ dismissal, he was caught by Parameswaran, who broke the 82-run partnership.

Kumar Sangakkara, whose three-ball innings included a boundary and a six, was unbea‘ten’.

RCB eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. DC scored 181 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 20 overs.

Dilshan and Chris Gayle bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 17, the latter conceded half-a-dozen.

Mithun and Syed Mohammad bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 27.

Zaheer Khan and Muralitharan bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 18.

Parameswaran, who bowled four overs, conceded 45. He picked up a scalp.

Kohli, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Fifteen balls after Gayle’s dismissal, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Amit Mishra broke the 11-run stand.

Asad Pathan, who faced four balls, scored as many. His runs came by way of a boundary. Four balls later, he was caught by Steyn. Mishra broke the run-a-ball stand.

Dilshan, whose 54-ball innings included eight boundaries, in addition to a couple of sixes, eventually scored 71. Nine balls later, Veer Pratap Singh broke the 11-run stand.

A B de Villiers, the player of the match, scored 47, and was unbeaten. His 17-ball innings included five boundaries and three sixes.

Mayank Agarwal, whose six-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 18. Ten balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Ashish Reddy, who broke the 26-run stand.

RCB scored 150 off 17.2 overs (104 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Syed Mohammad, who faced a ball, scored a boundary, and was unbeaten.

Dhawan bowled an over, conceding 11. He was wicketless, as was Steyn, who bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded 30.

Veer Pratap bowled three overs, conceding 34. He picked up a wicket.

Rajan bowled 3.5 overs, conceding 44. He picked up a wicket.

Ashish bowled four overs, conceding 36. He picked up a wicket.
