Bangalore lose to Dhoni-led CSK

CSK (Shar)made one change to their playing eleven – Ankit Rajpoot made way for Mohit.

RCB (Moham)made four changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Moises Henriques, K L Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat, and Muttiah Muralitharan made way for Christian, Ravi Rampaul, Jamaluddin Syed and Murali Kartik.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a wicket.

Chris Gayle, who faced 10 balls, scored just four. His runs came by way of a boundary. Eleven balls into the match, he was caught by Dhoni. Chris Morris broke the six-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 8.4 overs (52 balls). CSK had conceded an extra at that point.

It was at that point that Mayank Agarwal – who scored 24 off 21 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and a six – was stumped by Dhoni. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 45-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). CSK had conceded three extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While the contribution of Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, to the partnership was 22, A B de Villiers’ contribution to it was 29. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Kohli’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and a six – came off 43 balls.

He eventually scored 58 off 47 balls, which included the aforementioned number of boundaries and as many sixes. Forty-nine balls after Agarwal’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhoni. Morris broke the 82-run partnership.

Christian, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Suresh Raina. Morris broke the run-a-ball stand.

Rampaul, who faced four balls, failed to get off the mark. Five balls later, he was caught by Dhoni. Dwayne Br(av)oke the three-run stand.

De Villiers’ half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six – came off 26 balls.

RCB eventually scored 165 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja, the player of the match, and Mohit bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 20, the latter conceded 13.

Bravo, Nannes and Ashwin bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. They conceded 32, 31, and 28, respectively.

Morris, who bowled four overs, conceded 40. He picked up three scalps.

CSK scored 150 off 19 overs (116 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Morris, who faced four balls, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten.
