Dhoni delighted; CSK beat Hyderabad

SRH made no changes to their playing eleven.

CSK made one change to their playing eleven – Ben Laughlin made way for Jason Holder.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, SRH’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, and lost a wicket.

Murali Vijay, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 29. Thirty-two balls into the match, he was caught by Parthiv Patel. Thisara broke the 45-run partnership.

CSK scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). SRH had conceded an extra at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Michael Hussey’s contribution to the partnership was 26, the contribution of Suresh Raina, the player of the match, to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

CSK scored 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). SRH had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Michael Hussey’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes – came off 32 balls.

Raina’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a six – came off 35 balls.

The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 64 balls. While Michael Hussey’s contribution to the partnership was 46, Raina’s contribution to it was 51. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

CSK scored 150 off 16 overs (97 balls). SRH had conceded five extras at that point.

Michael Hussey, whose 42-ball innings included five boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 67. Seventy-four balls after Vijay’s dismissal, Thisara broke the 133-run partnership.

Raina, whose 52-ball innings included 11 boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 99. He was unbeaten.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, faced three balls, scoring four. A couple of balls after Michael Hussey’s dismissal, he was caught by Karn Sharma. Thisara broke the five-run stand.

Ravindra Jadeja, whose six-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 14. He was unbeaten.

CSK scored 200 off 18.3 overs (113 balls). SRH had conceded eight extras at that point.

SRH eventually conceded 10 extras. CSK scored 223 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.

Daren Sammy and Karn bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 19.

Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, and Dale Steyn (whose spell included a maiden) bowled four wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 66, 41, and 17, respectively.

Thisara, who bowled four overs, conceded 45. He picked up all the three wickets that fell.

SRH’s openers put on 11. Shikhar Dhawan, who faced three balls, scored as many. Eleven balls into the chase, Dhoni ran him out.

Sangakkara, who faced nine balls, scored just three. Twenty-two balls later, he was caught by Chris Morris. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 35-run stand.

SRH scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). CSK had conceded three extras at that point.

Hanuma Vihari, who faced eight balls, scored three. Fourteen balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Vijay. Raina broke the nine-run stand.

Although his three-ball innings included a six, Sammy had no reason to be in seventh heaven – three balls later, he was caught by Morris. Needless to say, Mohit Sharma was in seventh heaven.

Parthiv, whose 30-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, scored 44. Four balls later, he was caught by Vijay. Mohit broke the two-run stand.

Thisara, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 23. Twenty-three balls later, he was caught by Subramaniam Badrinath. Dwayne Br(av)oke the 35-run stand.

SRH scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). CSK had conceded three extras at that point.

Karn, whose 33-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 39. He was unbeaten.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 11. Mishra, who faced eight balls, scored half-a-dozen. Fifteen balls after Thisara’s dismissal, Jadeja ran him out.

Steyn, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 14. Twenty-seven balls later, he was caught by Holder. Morris broke the 33-run stand.

Ishant, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

CSK eventually conceded four extras. SRH, who scored 146 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 77 runs.

Jadeja, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 14. He was wicketless, as was Holder, who bowled three overs, conceding 28.

Raina, who bowled an over, conceded four. He picked up a wicket.

Morris, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 24. He picked up a wicket.

Bravo and Ashwin bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 25, the latter conceded 23.
