Kohli shines; RCB beat Hyderabad

RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Tillakaratne Dilshan and Karun Nair made way for A B de Villiers and Rudra Pratap Singh.

SRH made one changes to their playing eleven – Ankit (Shar)made way for Biplab Samantray.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, SRH’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 40, and lost a wicket.

Reddy, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored a dozen. (Aksha)Thirteen balls into the match, he was caught by Vinay Kumar. Rudra Pratap broke the 12-run stand.

SRH scored 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). RCB hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

Parthiv Patel, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 20. Thirty-four balls after Akshath’s dismissal, Muttiah Muralitharan broke the 38-run stand.

Sangakkara, whose 24-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 23. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper and the player of the match. Murali Kartik broke the 12-run stand.

SRH scored 100 off 15.1 overs (91 balls). RCB had conceded an extra at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Cameron White’s contribution to the partnership was 27, Thisara Perera’s contribution to the partnership was 26. Extras’ contribution to it was a run.

Perera, whose 24-ball innings included a boundary and four sixes, eventually scored 40. Forty-five balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, Rudra Pratap broke the 80-run partnership.

SRH scored 150 off 18.3 overs (112 balls). RCB had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

White’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many sixes – came off 32 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 34 balls. Eight balls after Perera’s dismissal, he was caught by de Villiers. Vinay broke the 13-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ashish Reddy, who faced four balls, scored three. The next ball, he was dismissed by Rudra Pratap.

Hanuma Vihari, who faced three balls, scored four. He was unbeaten, as was Samantray, who faced a couple of balls, scoring as many.

SRH scored 161 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Henriques, who bowled an over, conceded 18. He was wicketless, as was Jaydev Unadkat, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.

Kartik, who bowled three overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket, as did Vinay and Muralitharan, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 43, the latter conceded 23.

Rudra Pratap, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up three scalps.

Mayank Agarwal, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 29. Thirty-one balls into the chase, he was caught by Sangakkara. Perera broke the 39-run stand.

Gayle, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Ishant Sharma broke the eight-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). SRH had conceded an extra at that point.

De Villiers, whose run-a-ball innings included a six, scored 15. Thirty-five balls after Gayle’s dismissal, he was caught by Vihari. White broke the 49-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 12.5 overs (77 balls). SRH had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Kohli’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 31 balls.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 26 balls. While Kohli’s contribution to the partnership was 41, Henriques was in seventh heaven. Extras’ contribution to it was a couple.

RCB scored 150 off 16.4 overs (100 balls). SRH had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Kohli, whose 47-ball innings included 11 boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 93. He was unbeaten, as was Henriques didn’t add to the aforementioned score. His nine-ball innings included a boundary.

RCB, who scored 162 for the loss of three wickets off 17.4 overs, won by seven wickets with 14 balls to spare.

Vihari and Ashish bowled a wicketless over each, conceding a dozen apiece.

Amit Mishra and Dale Steyn bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 42, the latter conceded 16.

White, who bowled an over, conceded 14. He picked up a wicket.

Perera, who bowled three overs, conceded 35. He picked up a wicket.

Ishant, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceded 20. He picked up a scalp.
