On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to
field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 43, and lost
a couple of wickets.
Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s skipper, scored nine off half-a-dozen balls,
which included a couple of boundaries. Fifteen balls into the match, he was
caught by Michael Hussey, the player of the match. Dirk Nannes broke the 19-run
stand.
Mandeep Singh, who faced 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored
nine. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Dwayne. Nannes Br(av)oke the
one-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). CSK had conceded an extra at
that point.
Manan Vohra, whose 11-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 16.
Twenty-five balls after Mandeep’s dismissal, he was caught by Michael. Ravindra
Jadeja broke the 30-run stand.
KXIP scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). CSK had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While David Hussey’s
contribution to the partnership was 24, Gurkeerat Singh Mann’s contribution to
it was 22. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.
David, whose 36-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 41. Forty-three balls after Vohra’s dismissal, he was caught
by Bravo. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 56-run partnership.
Mann, whose 26-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored
31. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Nannes. Bravo broke the 10-run
stand.
Azhar Mahmood had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored eight.
Nine balls later, he was caught by Ashwin. Morris broke the 11-run stand.
Rajagopal Sathish, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored
eight. Four balls later, he was caught by Morris. Bravo broke the six-run
stand.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Piyush, who faced five
balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a boundary. Three balls (Chaw)later,
he was caught by Murali Vijay off the bowling of Bravo.
Ryan Harris, who bowled a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark.
Three balls later, he was caught by Bravo. Morris broke the one-run stand.
The last-wicket pair put on four. Praveen Kumar, who faced five balls,

Parvinder Awana, who faced five balls, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
CSK eventually conceded eight extras. KXIP were dismissed for 138 for 19.5
overs.
Ankit Rajpoot bowled a wicketless over, conceding 10.
Ashwin bowled three overs, conceding 22. He picked up a wicket, as did
Jadeja, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.
Nannes bowled 3.5 overs, conceding 17. He picked up a couple of wickets,
as did Morris, who bowled four overs, conceding 27.
Bravo bowled four overs, conceding 27. He picked up three scalps.

couple of extras at that point. While Vijay’s contribution to the partnership
was 19, Michael’s contribution to it was 32.
Michael’s half-century – which included eight boundaries – came off 36
balls.
He eventually scored 86 off 54 balls, which included 11 boundaries and a
couple of sixes. He was unbeaten.
CSK’s openers put on 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). KXIP had conceded a
couple of extras at that point. While Vijay’s contribution to the partnership
was 40, Michael’s contribution to it was 58.
Vijay’s run-a-ball half-century included three boundaries and a six. He was
unbeaten.
KXIP eventually conceded three extras. CSK, who scored 139 without the
loss of a wicket off 17.2 overs, won by 10 wickets with 16 balls to spare.
Obviously, each of the bowlers was wicketless.
Sathish, who bowled an over, conceded 15.
Awana, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 20.
Praveen, who bowled 2.2 overs, conceded 18.
Mahmood, Harris and Chawla bowled four overs apiece. They conceded 34, 30,
and 21, respectively.
