Rohit delighted; MI beat Bangalore

MI made one change to their playing eleven – Yuzvendra Chahal made way for Dhawal Kulkarni.

RCB (Moham)made one change to their playing eleven – Murali Kartik made way for Jamaluddin Syed.

On winning the toss, Rohit Sharma, MI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 52, and lost a wicket.

Tendulkar, whose 13-ball inningS(ach)included five boundaries, scored 23. Twenty-two balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Rudra Pratap Singh, who broke the 29-run stand.

MI scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). RCB had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 30 balls. While the contribution of Dwayne, the player of the match, to the partnership waS(mi)thirty-eight, Dinesh Karthik’s contribution to the partnership was a dozen. Extras’ contribution to it was four.

Smith’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes – came off 35 balls.

He eventually faced 36 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned score. Thirty-nine balls after Tendulkar’s dismissal, Syed Mohammad broke the 68-run partnership.

MI scored 100 off 10.2 overs (62 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

The third-wicket pair put on 21. Rohit, whose eight-ball innings included A Boundary, scored 10. Sixteen balls after Smith’s dismissal, de Villiers and Syed Mohammad ran him out.

MI scored 150 off 15.2 overs (92 balls). RCB had conceded eight extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 25 balls. While Dinesh’s contribution to the partnership was 15, Kieron Pollard’s contribution to the partnership was 33. Extras’ contribution to it was a couple.

The fourth-wicket pair eventually put on 51. Dinesh, whose 33-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 43. Twenty-seven balls after Rohit’s dismissal, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, ran him out.

The fifth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ambati Rayudu didn’t face a ball. The next ball, Kohli ran him out.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Kieron Pollard, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 34. The next ball, he was caught by Ravi Rampaul off the bowling of Vinay Kumar.

Harbhajan Singh, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 16. Ten balls later, he was caught by Saurabh Tiwary. Rampaul broke the 18-run stand.

Mitchell Johnson, whose five-ball innings included a six, scored nine. He was unbeaten, as was Lasith Malinga, who faced a ball, failing to get off the mark.

RCB eventually conceded nine extras. MI scored 194 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Jaydev Unadkat, who conceded 32, was wicketless.

Syed Mohammad, Rudra Pratap, Vinay and Rampaul picked up a scalp apiece. They conceded 43, 40, 38, and 35, respectively.

Chris Gayle, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 18. Seven balls later, he was caught by Rayudu. Harbhajan broke the two-run stand.

Kohli, who faced four balls, scored a run. Three balls later, he was caught by Dinesh. Kulkarni broke the two-run stand.

De Villiers, who faced three balls, scored a couple. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Dinesh. Kulkarni broke the four-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off as many balls (8.2 overs). MI had conceded eight extras at that point.

Arun Karthik, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. Seventeen balls after de Villiers’ dismissal, he was caught by his namesake, Dinesh. Harbhajan broke the 24-run stand.

Saurabh, whose 19-ball innings included a six, scored 21. Seventeen balls later, he was caught by Harbhajan. Smith broke the 16-run stand.

Syed Mohammad, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Three balls later, he was caught by Johnson. Smith broke the two-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 15.5 overs (95 balls). MI had conceded nine extras at that point.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Rampaul’s contribution to the partnership was 23, Vinay’s contribution to the partnership was 26. Both were unbeaten. While the former’s 18-ball innings included three boundaries, the latter’s 20-ball innings included four boundaries. Extras’ contribution to it was a couple.

MI eventually conceded 11 extras. RCB, who scored 136 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs, lost by 58 runs.

Pollard, who faced a couple of overs, conceded 19. He was wicketless, as were Johnson and Malinga, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 27, the latter conceded 25.

Smith, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 20. He picked up a couple of wickets, as did Harbhajan, who bowled four overs, conceding 21.

Kulkarni, who bowled four overs, conceded 19. He picked up three scalps.
