DD made a couple of changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Ben Rohrer and
Morne made way for Jeevan Mendis and Johan Botha.
On winning the toss, Mahela Jayawardene, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 26, and lost a wicket.
Jayawardene, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored
11. Twenty-three balls into the (Shar)match, he was trapped leg before wicket
by Ishant, who broke the 13-run stand.
Virender Sehwag, who faced 17 balls, scored eight. Twenty-one balls
later, Daren Sammy, the player of the match, broke the 19-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 10.4 overs (65 balls). SRH had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they
eventually conceded.
Unmukt Chand, whose 24-ball innings included three boundaries, scored
17. Twenty-two balls after Sehwag’s dismissal, Dale Steyn broke the 18-run
stand.
David Warner, who faced 15 balls, scored eight. Three balls later, he
was stumped by Parthiv. Amit Mishra broke the two-run stand.
Kedar Jadhav, who faced four balls, scored three. Half-a-dozen balls
later, he was caught by Karn Sharma, who broke the five-run stand.
Jeevan Mendis, who faced nine balls, scored 11. Fifteen balls later, he
was caught by Ishant. Sammy broke the 13-run stand.
Botha had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a run. Eleven
balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Thisara Perera broke the three-run
stand.
The eighth-wicket pair put on four. Shahbaz Nadeem, who faced three
balls, didn’t get off the mark. Seven balls later, Hanuma Vihari and Sammy ran
him out.
Irfan Pathan, who faced 19 balls, scored 13. A couple of balls later,
Steyn broke the one-run stand.
Ashish Nehra, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Half-a-dozen
balls later, Thisara broke the two-run stand.
Umesh Yadav, who faced five balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten.
DD were bundled out for 80 off 19.1 overs.
Karn, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded nine. He picked up a
wicket.
Ishant bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded 11, picking
up a wicket.
Mishra, who bowled four overs, conceded 16. He picked up a wicket.
Sammy, who bowled three overs, conceded 10. He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Thisara bowled 3.1 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 11, picking up
a couple of wickets.
Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up a couple of
scalps.

SRH scored 50 off 8.3 overs (51 balls). DD had conceded an extra at that
point.
Sammy, whose 20-ball innings included a six, scored 18. He was unbeaten.
Kumar Sangakkara, SRH’s skipper, faced 14 balls, scoring eight. Twenty-seven
balls after Parthiv’s dismissal, he was caught by Umesh. Botha broke the 17-run
stand.
Vihari, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
11. He was unbeaten.
DD eventually conceded three extras. SRH, who scored 81 for the loss of
four wickets off 13.5 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with 37 balls to
spare.
Irfan bowled a wicketless over, conceding half-a-dozen.
Nadeem, who bowled two overs, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he
was wicketless.
Umesh bowled 2.5 wicketless overs, conceding 27.
Nehra bowled two overs, conceding 14. He picked up a wicket, as did
Jeevan, who bowled three overs, conceding 16.
Botha, who bowled three overs, conceded 11. He picked up a couple of
scalps.
