Virat-led RCB beat Pune again

PWI made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Luke Wright and Kane Richardson made way for the Sri Lankan pair, Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis.

RCB made three changes to their playing eleven – Abhinav Mukund, Ravi Rampaul, and Jaydev Unadkat made way for Lokesh Rahul, Arun Karthik, and Muttiah Muralitharan.

On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 30, without the loss of a wicket.

Chris Gayle, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 21. Thirty-nine balls into the match, he was caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Tirumalasetti Suman broke the 36-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). PWI had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 26 balls. While Saurabh Tiwary’s contribution to the partnership was 23, Kohli’s contribution to it was 20. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Kohli, whose 18-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 25. Thirty-nine balls after Gayle’s dismissal, Ashok Dinda broke the 63-run partnership.

RCB scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). PWI had conceded a dozen extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Saurabh’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes – came off 42 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 45 balls. Thirteen balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahul Sharma. Dinda broke the 20-run stand.

RCB scored 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls).

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 25 balls. While the contribution of A B de Villiers, the player of the match, to the partnership was 25, Moises Henriques’ contribution to it was 27. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

De Villiers’ half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 23 balls. He was unbeaten, as was Henriques, who didn’t add to the aforementioned score. His 13-ball innings included four boundaries and a six.

RCB scored 187 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.

Yuvraj Singh bowled a wicketless overs, conceding 15.

Mathews bowled two wicketless overs, conceding 23.

Bhuvneshwar bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 20.

Rahul and Mendis bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 25.

Suman bowled a couple of overs, conceding 15. He picked up a wicket, as did Dinda, who bowled four overs, conceding 25.

Aaron, PWI’s skipper, scored 15 off 11 balls, which included a boundary and a six. Seventeen balls into the (Fin)chase, Henriques broke the 20-run stand.

The second-wicket pair put on 26. Suman, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Twenty-five balls later, Muralitharan and Arun ran him out.

PWI scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

Yuvraj, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 16. Nineteen balls after Suman’s dismissal, he was caught by de Villiers. Vinay Kumar broke the 31-run stand.

Steven Smith, who faced four balls, scored as many. His runs came by way of a boundary. Four balls later, he was caught by Arun. Vinay broke the run-a-ball stand.

PWI scored 100 off 13.2 overs (80 balls). RCB had conceded four extras at that point.

Robin Uthappa’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many sixes – came off 34 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Uthappa’s contribution to the partnership was 29, Mathews’ contribution to it was 25. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Mathews, whose 19-ball innings included three sixes, eventually scored 32. Thirty-three balls after Steven’s dismissal, he was caught by Gayle. Vinay broke the 63-run partnership.

PWI scored 150 off 16.5 overs (101 balls). RCB had conceded five extras at that point.

Nayar, who faced three balls, scored (Abhish)ek. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by de Villiers. Murali Kartik broke the nine-run stand.

Uthappa, whose 45-ball innings included five boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 75. Three balls later, he was caught by Rudra Pratap Singh. Kartik broke the six-run stand.

Bhuvneshwar, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Five balls later, he was caught by Kohli. Rudra Pratap broke the three-run stand.

Mendis scored a couple. He was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Gayle, who broke the run-a-ball stand.

Dinda, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten, as was Rahul, who faced a ball, failing to get off the mark.

RCB eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. PWI, who scored 170 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs, lost by 17 runs.

Muralitharan, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 32.

Gayle, who bowled an over, conceded five. He picked up a wicket, as did Henriques and Rudra Pratap, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 44, the latter conceded 27.

Kartik, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Vinay, who bowled four overs, conceded 31. He picked up three scalps.
